3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2015 edition - drinking one now and putting another one down with my 2013. Murky brown pour, a few floaters and a tight tan head that persists a while. Toffee, dried fruit, jammy aromas. Taste is sweet, toffee, a little bitter, a little boozy, then some dried fruit and leather. Not bad - will be interested to see how it ages.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2014 bottle from Beer Express. Best After (??!?) 25/05/14. Pours a nice clear coppery colour, second pour murky and rusty brown; the light beige head is brief. The aroma’s at first fresh caramel, then deepens to a more orangey and marmalady, some dark fruits - figs, raisins - too. Tastes sweet with a bit of earthy-herbal finishing bitterness. Not too multilayered. Thin prickly carbonation, mediumish body, slight stickiness on the palate. Pretty good overall, despite the somewhat bland taste. Liked the aroma much more.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2015 2008 bottle from Keg Liquors; split four ways. Aroma: A nice treacle pudding type nose with some raisin and nuts. Appearance: Unfiltered cola brown pour with a bone colored head that settles into a ring. Flavor: Still a fairly vibrant, maltier beer with raisin/sweet malts up front, and an almond liqueur sharpness towards the finish, which has an earthy dryness (pride of ringwood?). Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, flat carbonation, bitter (for the style) finish. Overall: I thought this was still a very enjoyable ale, even at it’s age. While it seems that others have not appreciated the 2008 vintage on the same level I have, I definitely think it’s worth a shot, especially if you like aged ales of this kind.
