Bottle conditioned.
Brewed with choice malts and an extended top fermentation. This naturally conditioned ale experiences interactions between the robust malt, hop and yeast characteristics, to exhibit an intriguing journey of flavour development over a period of five years when stored under cellar conditions.

Bottled, 375ml, from Beers of Europe, Norfolk. Reddy chestnut with slight white head. Sweet, toffee, butterscotch flavours with a heavy alcohol presence right from the off, quite cloying and palate filling. Quite malty, little on the hop front. A big bruiser and not very refined.

2008 bottle. Amber color. Vinous, slightly dusty aroma with notes of toffee and cognac. Vinous, slightly perfumed flavor, slightly dusty with cognac notes. Slightly alcoholic. Malty and matured (perhaps a bit too matured) but the balance could be better.

Best before 10-09-06 Bottle poured a cloudy copper with a small, quickly dissapating amber head. Aromas of carmel, a bit of dark fruit, toffee, and a hint of cocoa. Palate was medium bodied. Flavors of dark fruit, toffee, and a hint of honey with a clean, sweet finish.

BeerandBlues2 (9446) - Hanover, Maryland, USA - OCT 11, 2005
Botlle 4-Oct/2002. Pours hazy and muddy copper, straw and orange with a small frothy off-white head that qucikly becomes an edgy and rocky film. Caramel malt (straw, hay) toffee and grape, plum hop with cellared oak notes and yeast (dough). Flavor is warm caramel malt buttery and fizzy with a lightly hopped finish and oak notes. Medium bodied fizzy and warming palate.

from Erzbierschof - cloudy copper-brown coloured and with a persistent firm beige foam; nice lacework; solid malty and yeasty aroma with notes of red fruits and flowery hops; full-bodied and with a fair carbonation; a solid bitterness and a long malty nutty and fruity hoppy finish

Brown pour with a nice creamy beige head. Maple syrup, dates, rum soaked raisins and caramel aroma. Flavor has dried figs, dates, raisins and some nice rich yeast. Hops add a slight tingle, but this beer is about the malt and fruit flavors. Nice beer. Best ive had from this brewery by far.

Bottle (canít read the date)... Murky caramel-colored ale with a small, wispy, white head. Sweet caramel aroma and flavor. Basically, itís liquid caramel with some subtle apple and pear esters. Although itís sweet, itís not too sweet! Medium-bodied and milky with medium carbonation. Rich, caramelly finish with a small hop tingle. Thanks to vyvvy for shipping the bottle to me!

Bottle (vintage 2008):Amber, hazy, lots of floaties visible, small and persistent lacy off-white head; fruity-vinous aromas detectable, molasses and a tinge of turpentine, too; stronger sweet-bitter flavour, nearly full bodied; moderate - slightly alcoholic and tart - sweet fruity and vinous finish, some hops detectable in the aftertaste. Quite O.K., but all in all also disappointing........

Bottled. 2006 Vintage. A dark amber coloured beer with a ruby hue and a thin circling of beige bubbles. The aroma is fruity and malty with raisins and sultanas, and blackberries. The taste has good alcohol notes. There is a large bite of bitter lemons late on preceded by more raisins and a good malty backbone. Some vanilla notes thrown in for good measure. A tasty beer from a brewery Iíve been very disappointed in.

37.5cl bottle, vintage 2008. Hazy, dark amber coloured hue with loads of dead yeast chunks swimming around and a thick slightly tanned foamy head. Sweet and toasty, strongly spiced malty aroma with a tinge of caramel. Bitter and slightly sweet flavour, full bodied with a calm, well-matured carbonation. Toast-malty, slightly berry-fruity taste with caramel and strong spicy and herbal notes; moderately sweet and slightly bitter finish with matured and lightly mouldy toasty malt and a bit brandy-like alcohol (for a beer). Initially a bit strange but finally a pleasant kind of old Ale. 31.VIII.09
