4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a review of the recent batch of Coopers Vintage Ale, this one released 4th October 2002.
Ok, I was really looking forward to testing this one. I love my Coopers and from what Iíd heard this was one of their finest offerings.
I wasnít disappointed.
Enjoy this one in a glass, the aroma is much more free to move and invade your nostrils. Fruity, somewhat akin to a plum/apricot sort of smell in my opinion, really lovely.
The taste is excellent. Nothing too overwhelming though I think it would develop with the recommended 18months cellaring. Nice and fruity like the smell with the definite taste of hops on the after palate.
A good kick of alcohol so not something youíd want to have too many of if you had to go to work the next day.
A very good beer even when it hasnít aged. Be back in 18 months to tell you how its changed.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Fruity aroma. Very little head. Orangey amber in color with a million floaties, some very large. Fruity flavor with a nice malt backbone and citric presence. Well balanced and very enjoyable. Bottled in 02.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Smooth, yet robust. The tonnes of alochol are consumed in a lathery creamy head. One of the best beers Iíve ever had.

Bottled. Wow, yeah! Great, complex flavours and aromas: orange, malt, prunes, hops, flowers, wood, alcohol, yeast, caramel... itís all there. Good mouthfeel and a nice aged aftertaste, makes you think of oak barrels or something like that. Very highly reccomended.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
2008 bottle, 375ml. Remarkable beer. Aroma has raisins, caramel, and also yeast, which gets stronger as you go. Flavour is complex and long lasting, with sweet notes dominating. Medium to full body, silky mouthfeel. Copper colour and white frothy head; it has yeast for bottle conditioning.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Brown-russet in color; medium to thin head that stayed lively. Orange in the nose in a non-citrus sort of way. Incredible mouthfeel. Beautiful lace. Spicy smooth raisins. Nice hop character that is quite unusual. Almost like a belgian dry.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JUL 12, 2007 2006 vintage - Bottle conditioned - An absolutely awesome beer. I savoured each and every drop. A medium body, reddish brown in colour, and moderately carbonated. Murky in appearance. Thereís a lot of sediment in the bottle and despite pouring carefully there are lots of floating chunks in the beer, although I reckon they add to itís appearance. A creamy off white head which lasted fairly well although no lacing. A moderate malty taste Some spiciness and a hint of apple. A pleasant warm alcohol taste. An excellent drop!

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2012 The new 2012 vintage has just come out and seems to be much the same as last years. I usually prefer it if the beer is a little older, and I expect it to become smoother in the next few months. 24/09/2012RevisedTried another six pack and did not go down well . I donít know what coopers did wrong but this is an unpleasant beer.
