(Draught at CooperSmith) clear but very dark brown with no head. Nose is roasty, sweet, coffee, brown sugar and alcohol. Taste of coffee, umami, burnt toast, acrid. Thin and too roasty, alcoholic and vegetal.

Pour on tap at the brewery, murky brownish black with thin tan head, aroma has notes of caramel, roast, chocolate and coffee notes, touch of slight fruit and acidity in there. Taste is a mix of sour fruits, touch of caramel, roast and chocolate, hints of coffee, finishing fairly bitter and fairly roasted. Decent.

Flavor is heavy malt (caramel, chocolate, coffee, nutty), light hops (woody), light esters (dried fruit) with notes of smoke, wood, prune, and date. Full body, low warmth, medium carbonation and creaminess with a dry finish.

On tap at Coopersmith poured a clear dark brown with a small lingering tan head. Aromas of dark chocolate, roastiness and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, light roastiness and a hint of smoke with a smooth dry lingering chocolate finish.

Draft at SBV. Tasted 7/11/09. Pours a beige head over a brownish black (SRM 35) body....nose is heavy coffee, chocolate, bit of vanilla....taste is similar with coffee, chocolate, bit of molasses,,,,mouth feel is realtively light, but good none the less.
