Had a nice aroma with chocolate malt shining through. Decent head and carbonation, but tasting it seemed a bit light and also maybe a slight sanitizer type taste.

The body has a dark black look with a very dark reddish brown hue when held up to light. On top is a tan colored foamy head. It slowly fades down to a thin wisp covering that makes some slick lacing. Its aroma has dark bready notes with some dark roasted and chocolaty barley malt. Hop notes are very mild and add a very light herbal quality to the overall aroma. There is a dark bready base with lots of dry, roasted, toasted and chocolaty maltiness. There is a very mild toffee like sweetness underneath that I really like. Hop flavor is well balanced for the style and adds plenty of dry herbal notes to the mix. It finishes very dry with dark chocolaty, toasted and very light coffee notes. The palate has strong medium body with a smooth texture and mellow carbonation.

Pours dark brown with an aroma of roasted malt, nuts, and coffee. Great flavor with nuts, and roasted malt with hint of chocolate upfront and a solid coffee finish. Creamy body. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a clear cola brown with a medium to thick sized beige head. Sweet plum and pineapple paper. Medium bodied, very sweet and full of paper. Roast and weird infected sweetness. Quite unpleasant and not so tasty.

I think this is Cooperstown Brewing Company’s best offering. It’s a pleasant coffee color with a sweet malty aroma. It’s a smooth sipper with a balanced body, not too heavy. A porter that can serve as a session beer. It begs to be paired with burgers and dogs or a cheap steak.

Bottle, 06/14/2012. Pours deep, rich brown, beige head. Aroma of lightly roasted chocolate malts, nutty, touch of darker coffee. Taste has light chocolate, maybe some cola notes, slight ash and roast, mild bitterness. Light body from this bottle, wishing for more depth. Ok.

My wife brought this one back from a trip to Rochester. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with orange highlights and a huge foamy tan head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was lightly roasty and woody with hints of anise and coffee. The flavor was dry, bitter, roasty and had notes of coffee and anise. Medium finish and body. Not really my style.
