whaleman (2168), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 11, 2007 Bottle purchased in Cooperstown. Deep reddish-brown body with a fading, sudsy beige head. Fruity raisin and berry aromas plus some chocolate notes. Mild dark chocolate flavor with some roasted grain bitterness. Body is too thin (a theme here) and begs for a higher mash temperature. Another lackluster beer. Benchwarmer? The organization really needs to send this one down to the minors for some developmental work.
Haslinger (450), Syracuse, New York, USA Jun 17, 2008 bottle, Pours a dark ruby. The taste is malty with a little breadiness. slight slight hops. It is kind of thin there isn’t really the traditional thickness of the beer that I was hoping would be associated with this beer. Would not buy again Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Apr 2, 2008 Fairly average porter here. Pretty good chocolatey taste but a little too thin even for a porter. I liked this one but it isn’t a favorite of the style. MI2CA (1033), Noblesville, Indiana, USA Mar 24, 2008 12oz - thanks beastiefan2k - Aroma is creamy dark malts, milk chocolate and earthy hops. Pours very dark brown with a huge head out of the cellar. Seriously, it took me 3 pours (draining it each time, to get a 12 ounce bottle in a 20 ounce glass.) Good lacing. Flavor is much better than aroma. Smooth chocolate and roasted malts followed by a decent amount of hoppiness. Palate is creamy then tart. Not bad, a little too heady. blipp (578), Grand Island, New York, USA Mar 2, 2008 Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is roasted malt with just a touch of alcohol. Medium body. Flavor is again roasted malt with notes of burnt wood, coffee beans and a slight metallic note. Not bad. tomthompson89 (1043), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 13, 2008 coffee, choc nose brown color with tan head, flavor is coffee kinda roasted coffee some malts as well, has some warming qualities. smooth mouthfeel.
