2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 GT2 (3961) - USA - FEB 8, 2012
Tap at some stupid bar in DC. Pours clear amber with minuscule white foam. No lace. Richer toffee malt nose with no detergent thankfully. Hints of diacetyl. Sort of an English amber ale nose similar to Newcastle. Taste is thicker, muted honey and lots of toffee malt. Palate is fuller, very sweet, honey like thickness. Carbonation is a bit prickly. Havy sugar creates a slickness. Not too bad. Feels a tad oily. Hints of vegetal DMS/ frozen broccoli. Hints of metals and malt liquor trashy off character with artificial feeling bitterness. Off flavors probably blended out in macro fashion Much upgraded from seltzer water and soap though. But for the same price as SNPA, why bother?

Draft at Taste of Cincinnati. Funny how Coors isn’t mentioned in the ads or displays. No matter, it was a refreshing easy drinking lager. A little hop and nice malt.

Coors is trying to sneak into the craft market with this training wheels beer. Light lager with a little hop bite. The body is a little watery for my tastes.

Draft @ Nicky Rottens in San Diego. Pours clear dark golden color with white head. Floral hop aroma with some fruit and malt. Sweet maltiness and fruitiness with some grassy hoppiness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation. Not too bad for what it is. The bartender said it was Batch 19 but didn’t know who brewed it. I was surprised when I found out.

Nice and balanced taste with a clear, chestnut color. Not hoppy and more like a light lager than anything. A pretty darn good beer, worth a try, but not necessarily a show-stopper. Try it if you can find it!

On tap at a local watering hole. Served in a pint glass. Golden amber color with a one finger white head. Lace disappears right away. Aroma is dominated with malty sweetness. Maybe some earthy/grassy hops. Flavor follows the aroma. Light sweetness, balanced with some earthy hop bitterness. Smooth, moderate bodied palate. lightly bitter finish.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle is straw yellow, thin very fizzy and dissipating white head. Aroma brought notes of some slight corn and grain notes, touch of watery grass as well. Taste was sweet bread and corn, slight earth and grass, but very subtle in there, watery clean finish. Not much different than regular Coors.

Sample at the brewery. Good color, good lace. Some hops. Was good fresh, can only decline.
