The Banquet Beer was born in the Rockies and has been a proud part of the American experience for generations, stubbornly refusing to compromise, since 1873.

My first Macro rating in a long time. Pours a pale golden with a very small white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma of golden barley and hay, very mild hop presence. Flavor is mild sweet barley with a very slight bitterness. When I say that, I must say that it has more flavor than the typical pale lager. Fuller bodied than your typical macro. Very smooth. This is one of your better options if you’re slumming it for the night.

Abject filth, this Colorado Cocktail . I wonder what brew the owner’s and employees of Big Beer companies like Coors drink to enjoy. It certainly ain’t this Fizz-Piss. Good thing it was renamed to "Banquet" so as not to be confused with the overwhelming robust taste of Coors Light. Suitable only for a beggar’s banquet. Thin metallic boozy corn crud. Given by a friend.

Recent radio ads’ relentless repetition of Sam Elliott’s down-home drawl pounding out the word Banquet, over and over, made me feel like a less-dead Swayze being wisely advised by a kindly senior bouncer to try this beer. Well that, and my brother-in-law brought one over (like I was going to pay for a Coors). And did this beer kick ass or just taste like ass? Well neither. It poured a clear golden with a thin white head. Smelled, barely, of hay-malts, and tasted not dissimilar. Malt hay, a general light sweetness, without a lot of flavour. It almost has a English cider feel to it. Not much of a beer.

Can. Light pour with a quickly disappearing head. Grass, grain and syrup. Easy to drink but not much more

Poured from one of the old school banquet style bottles. Pours super clear hay. Pleasantly grainy, hints of grass. Pleasantly surprised to find it lacking and sort of metallic notes. A bit sweet, but pleasantly crisp and easy drinking.

Can. Pretty standard macro lager. Grainy aroma, grainy malt taste. Very little hop presence. Fairly sweet with a touch of banana.

On tap @ Lone Star Belleville. Pours a very pale gold with a medium size frothy white head. Aromas are mild grains and typical adjuncty goodness. Taste is very watery with some very mild grainy malts, bread, and virtually no finish. Inoffensive but really weak beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

Bottle, slightly better than the light version but still terrible, not much too it, thin and watery with very little flavor

Super corn malt taste...no depth, no hops, little flavor...very carbonated, like a beery soda...

Golden with no head and a corn nose. Smooth intro with a slightly-carbonated mouthfeel followed by a sweet, honey finish.
