The Banquet Beer was born in the Rockies and has been a proud part of the American experience for generations, stubbornly refusing to compromise, since 1873.

When i was a kid this beer was illegal to have in our state. So you were cool as hell if you had some! But when i was a kid i didn’t know what real beer was, either. It’s smooth and easier to drink than Budweiser, but that’s about it.

I love this beer and have to make trips to the US to get it. Worth the trip! I like a light brew.

Bottle. Nose is dishwashing soap, canned corn, light cereal, and something kind of ashy or bitter. Pours urine-specimen-yellow with a head that dissipates faster than Lindsay Lohan’s career. Taste is flat and lifeless, but is still at least not actively unpleasant. Finishes prickly and murky. Far cry from the stuff my dad used to get his trucker buddies to bring him.

12 oz. tall can. Probably the best US macro. Very mild, inoffensive. Weak corn/malt aroma, same for flavor. Not bitter or off, which is what puts it ahead of other macro products. The one to go with if choices are limited to Miller/AB/Coors.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear straw color with small white head that dissapates quickly. Almost no lacing, light carbonation, and light body. Taste is light malt and a hint of hops in the finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep golden hue with a medium, short-lived white head and lively carbonation. Nose is of light grassy hops. Body is light and crisp. There are definitely some flavors in this brew: some light earthiness from hops and sweetness from grain. There is not much of a finish. In my opinion it is the best American macro. I finished a whole bottle.
