1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 Andrew196 (1091) - Katy, Texas, USA - SEP 20, 2003
I was at a BBQ cookoff at the Fort Bend County fairgrounds. Filling up on free food and bad beer is the name of the game. My uncle was running the booth I was at, he took me to the back to an ice chest that had beer for those who didnt like the Miller Lite and Bud Lite up front. I guess this beer was for the people running the thing...I dunno. So, I look into the cooler and notice among a decent selection of bottled urine is several keystone lights and coors originals. I pondered for a few seconds as my uncle stood there, which of these evil beers shall I take for the sole purpose of rating. I had to go for the Coors, I had just heard too many stories about Texas A&M students drinking "stone" at keg parties--Coors wins! So, I take my bottle of coors back to the food area and crack this baby open. To my surprise, it wasnt at the bottom of the barrel as far as macros go....dont get me wrong, I would rather drink monkey nut before this beer, but it had some flavor to it. Kinda adjunct, kinda sweet, but it was definitely there. I sucked this thing down while listening to 100 different songs simulataneously. I dont know if you are familiar with these cookoffs, but there are a hundred or so tents, one for each team. The tents have tables for eating and they all decorate their area with some sort of theme....most are western of course. But every booth plays their own music, so imagine 50 different country songs and 50 different Tejano songs all being blasted in order to be louder than the neighboring tent's music.....there is no music, its just a conglomerate of noise. Anyways, the food was good, the music was bad, the people were good, the beer was bad.

"a proud part of the American experience for generations, stubbornly refusing to compromise" - really? Perhaps you might want to compromise. Very little in the way of flavour or aroma. Must admit, I think there is worse for the style. If anyone wants to debate on how a turd can be more of a turd than another turd, I’ll be on the toilet.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Niko100 (1084) - New York, USA - NOV 7, 2009
Light straw color; Light to medium body; Aroma and flavor of hops, grain, and some malt; Average macro lager - nothing special.

I remember when you couldn't get this beer east of the Rockies, unless Big Billy Bubba snuck some across in the back of his
big rig. Pours out a dark, golden color, with plenty of white foam for a head. The head fades away, however, leaving a curtain
of bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. Tastes about like you'd expect. Grainy, corny, and somewhat metallic. I think
this beer has much more flavor than Bud or Millers. At least you can taste the malts, albeit thin in body and on the palate. Not
too much in the way of hoppiness, but some bitterness at the finish of this beer. Finishes kind of dry as well. Certainly not the
best example of a pale lager I've ever had.

UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 It’s just as i expected from a cheap American pale lager: watery, bland, not worth buying...But better than some others...

Well not much to say really. I am sure we have all had coors, just can’t believe I didn’t log a rating until now. Guess I will have to give it a score while I watch football.
