COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Banquet Beer was born in the Rockies and has been a proud part of the American experience for generations, stubbornly refusing to compromise, since 1873.

UPDATED: JAN 14, 2012 This really is one of the American macros I will buy occasionally. Has noticeable hop and malt aroma. Full body by comparison to other pale lagers. I’ve always like this a little.

Pours a pale yellow with a fluffy forced carbonated white head. Aroma is sickeningly sweet. Loads of corn on top of dextrose sugar with a hint of a grassy hop (singular) and a little pale malt. Tastes very sweet as well, coats and sticks to your mouth in an unpleasant way. You can feel the sugar granules in your mouth it’s so sweet. More flavor than it’s light brother... But still unpleasant and way, way, way too sweet. Blah!

Has a yellow color and a malted smell. Taste is lightly malted and finishes with little bitterness. Overall not a bad beer, but nothing special.

Before I moved out to Colorado, right up the road from Golden in Boulder, Coors was something to break up the monotony of Miller/Bud here in the Midwest. Now it has switched, I prefer Bud (when Macro boozing). But, honestly, Coors isn't entirely terrible, except for the environment, don't let the commercials fool you. Fairly smooth drinking. Not entirely good to look at, but I guess when in Rome...

Bottle. Nose is dishwashing soap, canned corn, light cereal, and something kind of ashy or bitter. Pours urine-specimen-yellow with a head that dissipates faster than Lindsay Lohan’s career. Taste is flat and lifeless, but is still at least not actively unpleasant. Finishes prickly and murky. Far cry from the stuff my dad used to get his trucker buddies to bring him.

Can. Banquet beer, eh? Whatever that means. What to say here. Pours a pale yellow with minimal head and carbonation. Flavor is light straw and a hint of malt. Slight sourness in the middle. Finish is unassuming and slightly sweet. Plain and bland, but not quite as offensive as some of the other macros. Not as awful as some would pretend.

The king of American beers. Drink if you can’t get imported.

UPDATED: JUL 7, 2008 There isn’t much to say, except if I was trashy I’d flip a coin to drink Coors or Bud for Christmas. MGD’s got more taste.

Review is for the COLD ACTIVATED can, not the regular one, just in case there is a resulting difference on the palate. Pours very pale golden color, transparent, with short lived white head. Nose is light corn with a faint suggestion of Sprite soda-pop. Palate is very light bodied, fizzy, faint grain and corn flavors (very, very light in flavor), and a subtle sweetness from the grain. Minimal hops. Not as watery as Budweiser, but still very watery. Only mildly offensive as an adjunct lager.
