COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

Dark amber with lots of carbonation. Spicy malt aromas with some caramel. Mild, grainy flavors for the most part, but a restrained breadiness is also evident. Some hops and roasted bitterness in the finish. Not too bad considering the source.

Bottled. Pours a dark ruby color. Slightly roasted malty aroma. Some sweetness as well. Some caramel flavor mixed in with a little bit of a roasty English hoppy flavor. Not bad.

UPDATED: APR 8, 2006 A very solid beer from the omnipresent brewery. There is a reason Coors is a success amongst mainstream drinkers and that is the ease with which it goes down. That ease exists with this beer too but isn’t made at the sacrifice of flavor. I found it somewhat dull in appearance but it was a smoothy, nutty flavor going down.

this was actually completely different then i thought it was gonna be. for one the color was a dull copper brown with a mealy tan head. nose mostly of sweet caramel malt. flavors are thin on the palate but mostly of the sweet bready toffee genre.

Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc, blankboy & HogTownHarry - courtesy of HogTownHarry. OK, we didn’t expect much from this, but it was still a little unfair to have it right after the Girardin Gueuze Black Label. Pours a dark amber colour - actually looks pretty nice. Aroma is sweet, not unpleasant, but grainy. Flavour is grainy as well, with some mild caramel notes and a hint of hops. Pretty much what you’d expect from a macrobrewed winter ale.

Not a bad beer from a brewer I normally would not buy from (the name through me) but this isn’t on par with a real seasonal ale.

Nice brown Belgian appearance, head and malty aroma. Hoppy initially, dry and nicely malted but very drinkable after that, spice in finish. Not complex but pleasantly surprisingly solid beer by the macro. Full carbonation leading to medium mouthfeel. Dry but spice and sweetness in aftertaste.

This beer poured a nice amber color. A very creamy and slightly brown colored head. The head lasted the entire beer, stayed creamy and had some lacing. The aroma was very malty. Taste was slightly sweet malt. When I got about 3/4 of the way through the glass I realized this tastes like a VERY weak Rougue American Amber. I thought the beer was actually enjoyable and quite drinkable.
