COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

Bottle shared with Hogtown Harry, Blankboy, Jerc, and GregClow, Harry’s bottle. Stale malt, sugar aroma. Dark orange, no head. Some sweet flavour, stale, some earthy old hops. Pretty boring, but not wretched.

blankboy (4287) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - FEB 28, 2006
Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a clear dark amber with a spare diminishing white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt and not much else. Flavour of grain and caramel malt with a really light bitterness. Light to medium bodied. It’s not as bad as I feared but it’s O.K. at best.

B ottle. Dark amber, samll white head. Sweet saccharine aroma, muted caramel. Rough grainy caramel malt, almost light astringency at times but that is not the right word. Light palate. Really rubbed me the wrong way for some reason.<P> "With all our ass experience - this is definitely *not* ass."" - Blankboy

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jer and tupalev - my bottle. Ehh. Poured clear amber with a small diminishing head. Aroma of sugary caramel malt, sourish grain - has a very mld "real" malt character with some buckwheat honey added in. Taste is more bitter, fairly harsh actually - sour grain, sugary, it finishes with an almost table syrup sweetness fighting the harshness. Mouthfeel is weak and harsh - it smells okay (at first I though it smelled nasty, but that burned off quickly) - but overall all that good.

BBB63 (4939) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - FEB 23, 2006
Bottle and served in a Newcastle pint glass:
Poured nice with a solid brown hue, lingering head and moderate lace. The aroma has notes of caramel and roasted malting, grassy hops, a hint of maize, walnut, and apple jack. The taste is rather weak compared to the nose, mild sweet malts and acidic fruit over some chalky and husky base. A touch of allspice on the finish. Mostly smooth and quaffable, a refreshingly easy brew. A beginner beer to something more than watery lagers.

12 oz brown botle. In appearance this is a nice enough, clear medium brown ale with livelly carbonation and a good sized creamy thick light tan head. Good strongish aroma of caramel like malts. Plain malty flavour, smooth and semi- sweet, like prunes or sweet figs. To be honest its quite pleasing. The palate is average.. slightly thin for the style. Quite a drinkable ale..not big compared to most micro winter ales..but nice and refreshing. A surprise coming from the makers of such horrors as "The Silver Bullet".!

Pailhead (3326) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - FEB 17, 2006
Bottle: Courtesy of DarkElf via trade. Aroma is rather weak with nuts, grass, and a hint of ginger. Pours a dark amber wtih a small off-white head. Flavor is loaded with a strong nuttiness. Slight hints of caramel hide in the background. Finishes with a continued roasted nuttiness and light grassy hops. I see a lot of people say this is sweet, mine certainly isn’t. Really comes across like a mediocre brown ale.
