COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

(12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) This so-called winter beer reminds me of drinking an amber ale at a mediocre brewpub back when brewpubs just started coming on the scene. Meaning, this is not a horrible beer, but it’s not very good. The principle flavor is sugary, caramely maltiness, but the flavor is just generally cheap-tasting and certainly lacking quality and character. The gentle bitterness has little impact on the flavor. Caramely nose reflects the flavor. Light-medium body, but not watery like I was expecting. Does get kind of cloying after awhile though. Clear, ruddy-amber body is capped by half an inch of light tan head on the pour. Head fades to a ring eventually while leaving spots and small patches of lace on the glass. I would never buy this again, but really, I’ve had much worse.

Pours a translucent orangish-brown with slightly off-white head that lasts. Descent lacing. Aroma of almonds and roasted malts. Flavor is well developed (for a Coors); malty with some burntness and almonds present; descent carbonation and a bitter finish. In my opinion probably the best beer Coors has ever produced.

(Bottle) Purchased at CJs in Potsdam, NY. Pours a medium, almonde head with a deep copper body. Nose of roasted malt and almonds. Flavour is surprisingly decent with good a roasted caramel taste and an oily though a tad fizzy finish.

This is nothing more than a darker colored version of Coors Original. It has close characteristics to most macro lagers, just with a different label. Worth a try if you have people over that aren’t used to true craft beer.

12 oz bottle. Poured a clear amber color with off white head that laced the glass. Doughy cinnamon doughnut aroma. Dry caramel flavor that improves as the beer warms a bit. There is also a metallic flavor in the background and slight bitterness that lingers.

This has got to be the best Coors beer I have had in years. There was flavor and a hint of hops just a small hint but there was a hint. Good color and a nice flavor at the end. A good beer for beginners to try when branching out.

Bottle. Poured a clear reddish-amber with a moderate beige head. Respectable lacing followed it down. Aroma was very sweet... toffee primarily, with a hint of floral hops and some spices. Honey and caramel sweetness upfront, which becomes almost painfully cloying as this warmed. Spices, artificial sweetener, and caramel not bad at the finish. Crisp initially on the palate, and it held up fairly well the rest of the way.

Bottle 1/29/05: Medium bronze that’s cherry red when held to the light. Substantial and solid tan head. Sweet malty aroma. The flavor is a different combination of bitter honey and sweet grain and sugar.
