COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Coors Brewing Company celebrates the holidays with Winterfest - the nation's longest-running seasonal brew. Brewed once a year, in celebration of the season, Winterfest is a handcrafted brew that has earned Coors much recognition. Prior to its broader availability, Winterfest was enjoyed almost exclusively by the Coors family, company employees, and their friends. In 1986, Coors expanded the tradition of Winterfest to include the entire state of Colorado. The response was so enthusiastic that, every year since, Coors has offered the special winter brew in limited quantities and packages. Winterfest is available on draught and in six-pack longneck bottles, from early November through January, depending on how long supplies last. Winterfest is the perfect beer to toast a new season or a new year. 190 calories per 12-ounce serving and 5.6% alcohol by volume.

FROTHINGSLOSH (3205) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 2, 2006
UPDATED: AUG 27, 2007 I went into this one without particularly high hopes but found myself reasonably pleased. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a chestnut color with a medium sized tan head. The aroma is malty and lightly spicy - mostly nutmeg. The flavor is tangy and a bit bitter with a light spicy element and a nutty finish. A bit too bitter and tangy but at least the spice was not overdone such as is the case with too many of these winter seasonals.

Nose of nice caramelly malts, unlike any other Coors product that i’ve experienced; amber body with a small offwhite head. Flavor is malty with a hop bite and finish. Not bad for a brew produced by a Macro-giant.

Dogbrick (4531) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 8, 2006
Clear reddish-amber color with a thin off-white head. Thin stringy lacing. The aroma is mildly hoppy with some grain and malt. Light-bodied and easy to drink with light fruit, sweet malt and hops flavoring. The finish is clean and refreshing but not very flavorful. Some mild hops and spice and not much else. All in all this is pretty good considering the source, yet about what I expected from a macro seasonal.

This treat from DarkElf pours a fiery copper, topped by a thin, creamy buff head. Light malty aroma gives way to a biscuity, caramely body with grassy hops, toast, and touches of smoke. Thin, somewhat acidic finish. Granted, this isn’t the best beer on the market, but it is a good change of pace for Coors, and is as good as many of the lower-end "craft beers" out there.

UPDATED: APR 26, 2006 Bottle with stegosaurus. Pours clear amber in color with an off-white head. Aroma of sweet malts and slight hops. Flavor is malty and sweet. Not bad actually.

Bottles courtesy of Ughsmash. Dark red/mahogany with off white head that fades to film. Aroma very muted, faint spice and grain. Flavor has the same faint grain, some sweet malt, with more pronounced spice and faint hop bitterness towards the finish. Flavor really isn’t bad, just not enough ummmppphhh I guess. Can’t make up for the lack of aroma and watered down body though.

Bottle. Clear red-amber body, thin white head. Malt extract aroma. The flavor is a dry caramelly thing with what seem like aged noble hops picking up the bittering end. Way to go, Coors.

This is unique. Perhaps a diminished version of Anchor Christmas Ale (just kidding). A tad much malt, but the hop balance works. This is really an ale (from Coors!), and it’s tasty. Something of a burnt brown aspect. Perhaps the acquisition of Bass has had a good effect? I will drink more, and it’s likely the only Coors I will cheerfully drink. Kudos. Bravo. Well done chaps.
