This draft brew from a festival poured a small sized head of frothy medium sized brown colored bubbles that was mostly diminishing and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation black colored body. The strong aroma was dark malt and bourbon. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and strongly tingly at the finish vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt mildly vinous and dark malt. Delicious and one I would certainly drink again.

Draft. Small tan head that quickly dissipated, minimal lacing, no visible carbonation, opaque, and a black hue. Nose was bourbon, coffee, some roastiness, and woody. Flavor was roasty malt, chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. Slightly tingly mouthfeel. Medium body.

Draught. Deep black with no head. The aroma consists of burnt sugar, candy, and chocolate. Charred roast malt flavour with plenty of alcohol warmth and sugary stickiness. A little too big for my liking. Decent, though not outstanding.

Draft sample at MBGF. Black color with a moderate frothy brown head that diminished slowly with good lacing. Heavy toffee roasted malt aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Heavy bourbon flavor with a heavy sweet bourbon finish of long duration.

Draught at 2006 MBG Summer Festival. Pours dark black, like oil, with no head at all. Aroma and flavour of lots of bourbon along with dark malt, vanilla, molasses and hops. Thick oily body with a syrupy mouthfeel. Quite good, especially if you like Bourbon -- if you don’t, then you may want to avoid this one.

Draught sample at MBG 2006 Summer Festival. Deep black with a tiny head and a very still body. Big, boozy nose with lots of wood, coffee and bourbon. Very sweet flavour - molasses, sweet malt - with lots of bourbon and a very hot finish. It’s very good, but could’ve done with a bit less time in the barrel.

Draught. At 2006 Michigan Brewers’ Guild Festival. Viscous-looking black, with a small brown head. Aroma of bourbon, and lots of it, vanilla, oak, and underlying it solid overroast coffee/choc/fruit malt, and a nice hit of booze. The taste is primarliy oily bourbon, with molasses deep roast malt peeking out, hint of dry bitter hops and alcohol in the finish. Body is thick and oily, sticky almost cloyingly sweet in the longish finish - this would be a top-level impy if they just toned the bourbon down some - it’s still excellent, I’m just weary of bourbon in my stouts these days.

Michigan BGF 06: Opaque with a fine oily film, nice! Major vanilla, bourbon, woody nose with some roasted character and a hint of coffee and ripened fruit. The bourbon is well pronounced on the palate but you still are able to detect the roasted malty Impy nature under it all. Finish displays coffee, chocolate and oak. The mouth feel is oily and lush, moderate alcoholic warming. Just taken to the point of becoming too much, ultimately the bourbon worked okay and I enjoyed the brew.
