MBGSF 2008. Pours a slightly hazy amber color with an average white head. The aroma is definitely rye with pale, biscuity malt, and noticeable hops. The flavor was more rye with bittering hops, caramel, pale malt, and some citrus. Fresh and clean, medium mouthfeel; this was a surprising treat.

On tap at the Great Lakes Brewfest 2009. Cloudy amber with an off-white head. Aroma of rye, citrus hops and caramel. Taste of heavy rye, sweet malt, citrus and moderate caramel. Decently balanced with mild bitterness on the back end. Decent brew.

Draft sample at MBG winterfest 2009. Poured hazy golden color with an average frothy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Solid balanced sour citrus hoppy aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium balanced bittersweet flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

2008 MiBGF: Rich coppery hue with an okay head. The aroma is RYE baby! Oh and some resiny hop, pepper, and biscuity malts too. The taste is sharp and crisp combination of rye, hop, and mild acidic fruit profile balances slightly by pale malts. The finish is a tad astringent and spicy. The mouth feel is chewy and oily, nice for the genre. This was the best beer I had on Day 2 of the fest, very refreshing and tasty.

2008 MBG Winter Beer Fest. Bright, floral, citrusy hops, light pine, with fruity, grainy rye notes. Crisp and fresh, tingling the palate. Well-done.
