COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is an editorial commentary on the refereeing at the World Cup (it deserved a Yellowcard!) It is a single hop American Pale Ale using all Amarillo hops for bittering, flavor, aroma, and dry hop additions. These hops give it that characteristic citrusy flavor and aroma. It is a lighter body, with a dryish, malty flavor balanced with the beautiful tangerine-citrus character. I decided to add some rye and caramel malt to finish out the body of the beer.

(Draught) pale yellow-gold, ring of white bubbles. Nose of onion, sweaty socks, grapefruit, and old in general. Taste is syrupy, candied citrus, onion, very spicy and creamy. Not my favorite APA.

I tried one of their seasonals, Yellowcard APA (American Pale Ale), which turned out to be an excellent choice. Served unfiltered, this is orange in color with a light hoppy aroma as the glass greets your nose. Going down with a creamy, with a lacy glass cling, it has a light, sweet nose and a rolling hoppy tang that lingers on the finish. There is a soft, herbal quality here that blends magically with the creamy sweetness. This is an absolutely wonderful brew and an unexpected surprise. While certainly not extreme, it’s subtle, complex, and balanced. Because it’s a seasonal, I don’t know how long it will be on tap or if it will return, but if you’re on hand, do not miss a chance to try it ... and make sure you try it first, before throwing other flavors on your palate. Give it a couple good sips to sink in and enjoy. Serving type: on-tap

Tap sample at brewpub. Poured clear copper color with an average to large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate citrus amarillo hop aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bitter flavor with a medium smooth bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable brew.

Pours a slightly cloudy pale straw. Thin head fades to moderate white lacing. Lovely citrus and tangerine notes in the nose, tiny hint of spice and caramel. Thin mouthfeel, moderate sweetness up front, with a nice bitter finish that only lingers for a moment. Crisp finish, low carbonation. Very nice and refreshing beer, perfect for summer.
