On tap and then on cask. Pours a redish brown with a small beige head. Aroma of spice, malt, fruit, yeast. Taste is a sweet fruit, with spice, and yeast. Mouth is smooth. Finish is also smooth. Not a bad brew. Cask contained good amount of coriander.

On tap. Pours a deep, deep red with a fast fading whitish head. The aroma has hints of basement, baking spices, and distinct sweet cherries. The palate on this is sticky which makes the pronounced sweet character a little much. Cherries are all over the flavor with modest esters for balance which makes me think of pie crust and cardamom. A vanilla note is present throughout. This one became pretty tough towards the bottom of the pint glass. The sugary cherry flavor approached that of medicine.

Hazy brown. Dark fruits in aroma. Alcohol and spicey flavored. Not bad overall.

2005 GCBC. Coppery brown pour with a medium sized head. Caramel malty aroma with spice, and some subdued Belgian yeast notes. More sweet caramel malty flavors, with some estery medium dark fruits and more notes of that yeast character.

On tap at the 2005 GCBC: Clear deep copper color with a well-lacing off-white head. Heavy spiced caramel musky aroma has some bready yeast character. Body starts with a grainy malty sweetness, a touch of fresh hops and a drier earthy finish. An interesting Belgian ale, but could use some more sweet malty balance.

Pours dark amber with a fully receding off-white head. Aroma is toasted malt, coriander, and apricot. Taste is sweetish malts, raisin, and toffee. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with mild carbonation. Doesn’t taste like any dubbel I’ve had.

Draft at the brew pub. Cloudy ruby ale. Lots of red fruit in this one - along the lines of Ommegang’s Ommegang. Happy to have had the honor of a sample.

UPDATED: NOV 8, 2005 Poured cloudy/hazy brown color. Tangy and fruity aroma. Many flavors in this one...complex..sweet, fruity, lightly sour, and some alcohol in the flavor. Medium bodied and nicely warming. Flavors end quick and dry. Very nice. 2005 GCBC Hazy amber and a thin off white head. COmplex aroma of sugar, yeast, fruit and some banana. Swwet flavor with caramel with light clove. Spicey finish. Warming.

This had a big, airy head on top of a hazy dark copper body. There was big alcohol (much like La Trappe Quad) that gives an almost whiskey-like feel to it. Very spicey. Good flavor, nicely malty pretty dry. Warm alcohol but not harsh. This is a big beer methinks.
