Cask @ 2010 ATL Cask Ale Tasting. A near black beer with an average sized, wispy, light brown head. The nose is primarily roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate with lesser notes of cherry and light wood. Mostly full body, the oatmeal does a good job giving this a smooth, creamy mouth feel. Pretty drinkable, I get mostly roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee, about midway through I got some light cherry and vanilla. Finishes roasty.

Cask. Black pour. Aroma of wet dog, cherries, oats, vanilla, oak wood. Light flavored. Lots of oak. Lots of bitter wood hops. Mellows as it warms. There is a flavor of char and fruit. Very complex grain, chewy oats. Very nice beer.

Cask. Poured dark brown with a pretty big off-white head, some nice lace. Big head for a cask. Nose is roastey malt, light chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and oak. Taste is roasted malt, cherry, vanilla, and oak. There’s a lot going on here. The balance is decent, with the cherries being added in moderation, which provides good balance. Mouth is pretty full with a nice bit of cherry in the finish. Overall, another solid brew from CC.

On cask at ACAT 2010. Big coffee and roasted malt aroma, slight roastiness in there as well. The cherry comes through in a nice little tang on the back of the palate. Complex flavors imparted by the oak are pretty nice.

Appearance: Near black body layered with a wispy, sudsy, beige-hued head. Smell: Lightly roasty dark maltiness throw off notes of chocolate and coffee. Touch of vanilla from the oak. Touch of cherry fruitiness from the, well, cherries. Taste: Dark, roasty-toned malts with tastes of semi-sweet chocolate, coffee grinds, and darkened grains. From the added oak wood comes just a little bit of vanilla. Modestly sweet overall. Earthy, roasty bitterness. Mild dark fruitiness along with a light cherry essence, the later being present though not particularly appreciable (but it is appreciated). Slight sweetness, slight roastiness on the finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-low carbonation. Drinkability: A pleasant brew from Copper Creek. It’s a pity I so rarely make the long trek out to Athens to visit them, but, checking my March task itinerary, I’ll be attending a birthday celebration later in that month, so, here and now on this website, I will make the promise to swing by CC at that time.
