The quintessential General Lafayette Inn brew, we carry on the tradition at the Crow of producing this rich, flavorful dark ale. Call it a Porter, call it a Stout, we call it delicious. Chocolate, coffee, and roasted flavors blend with an uncanny drinkability in this local legend.

Tap at the Tiedhouse. Rich, chocolate and espresso aroma. Sweaty and nice. Dryish, creamy, chalky palate, not as rich as the aroma but a very solid effort. Sorry for this terribly short rating, thatís all Iíve got written down and to be honest I canít remember a damn thing about this beer.

Brewed in the USA...... Pours a sweet black color with a monster foamy khaki head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coca-cola notes. Taste is of malts with some chocolate and nutty notes. The mouthfeel is pretty much on the thin side and finishes with a smokey aftertaste. Not bad, but i was expecting a more robust palate.

Batch 3 Bottle - Thanks CaptainCougar! -Pours a thin black with a tiny tan head...aroma is dynomite, bitter chocolate malt, creme...flavour is great initially, dark cocoa, vanilla...it goes a bit awry at the end with an ascorbic tartness that I can only imagine is the result of a twelve malt orgy...very fun to try...

On cask at GL. Black as coffee with dense tan head. Rich and roasty aroma. This is a creamy and rich brew, thick. Chocolate cocoa, slightly sweet flavor with presence of alcohol. A very comforting beer.

On tap at the brewery. Chocolate coffee aroma, strong with a rich malty character and a bit of lactose airy-sweetness. Dark black-brown, with thin off-white head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts sweet with chocolate and coffee notes, lactose sweetness and some light carbonic acidity. There is also an odd rubbery tang to the finish of this one, too. Brown sugar and light molasses. Dry-nutty bitter finish and some tangy after. Band-Aid.
