Very well made "robust" porter, smooth finish, alcohol content hidden well. Perfect beer for a cold winter night.

on tap-pours a light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-roasty/chocolate, faint hops bite. Taste is dark malt-roasty/chocolate/anise, cherry, then some coffee in the after taste.

ottle courtesy of JB175. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Smells of tarte fruit and some sweet malt. Tastes of chocolate with a tarte finish. Average.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On draft at Pickering Creek Inn. Disappointing. I had this and a pils that Copper Crow offered and both had very astringent, bitter palates. Could be infection or just poor brewing habits. Pours black, head quickly fades. You can tell something isn’t right in the nose, there are hints of roasty malts and cocoa, but it smells "off". It continues to the palate, hopefully they get it sorted out.

2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 5/20
Black with huge overflowing head. Can’t fill half the glass. Lots of fruit going on with big roast and chocolate. Something has gone wrong with this bottle me thinks...fruit is overbearing and even dominates over the roast. Not a porter in this form. Drain pour.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle at home ... black ... huge brown foam head ... slightly sour roast malt ... little chocolate nose .... over fizzy ... definite sourness ... has the bottle turned ... i certainly think so ... some roast malt ... some chocolate but ruined by sourness... bugger

1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20
Bad bottle here. Vigorous head. Roasted dark, burnt malts mixed with sour aromatics. Definitely not the intended profile.

1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20
Bottle: Poured a dark porter with a super huge medium brown foamy head with super great retention and lacing – almost to the point where I am wondering if something is wrong. Aroma of sour roasted malt is not very enticing and smells like an infection. Taste is way too sour or style. Unfortunately this one is infected and I will have to re-rate at some point in time.
