The quintessential General Lafayette Inn brew, we carry on the tradition at the Crow of producing this rich, flavorful dark ale. Call it a Porter, call it a Stout, we call it delicious. Chocolate, coffee, and roasted flavors blend with an uncanny drinkability in this local legend.

This was a tasty beer. Very dark, even for a porter, with a nice brown head. Aroma is subtle of chocolate and sweetness, if thats possible. Flavor is robust with chocolate and hints of toffee. Medium bodied with nice smooth, soft mouthfeel. Alcohol is hidden well. One of the better beers at this microbrewery and perfect for dessert.

Sampled at the bar. This is a kick-ass robust porter. I think they had this under the name chocolate thunder porter or something like that. Pours a rich black with ruby highlights and a nice lasting thick creamy beige head. Aroma is loaded with sweet chocolate malts upfront, some light roast, lightly hoppy and a drier light bitter finish. Very smooth overall.

Thanks to Degarth for sharing some of his growler with me. Pours black, nice almond head..... Great silky mouthfeel, milky taste with milk chocolate, oatmeal, roasted malt, maybe some cocoa and sugar, great tasting beer with a great mouthfeel.

Black, thin tan creamy head. Nose was loaded with intense bitter chocolate tones, medium roast coffee notes, with just a touch of toasted caramel and berry. Burnt chocolate malt and hints of more coffee and berry flavor are found throughout. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, bittersweet finish. Damn good….

C-Bus 7 Growler shared by moejuck: Poured black with a medium tan head that held up well after a lengthy stay in the growler. Aroma, chocolate and coffee were predominant with a bit of a woody kick in there. Flavor, chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, a nice roasty finish, medium bodied, and easy drinking. Really nice beer.

Growler from JB175. Thanks! Shared at C-bus 7. Great aroma. Tons of chocolate, wood, and some alcohol--smells like a barrel aged brew. Black body with a medium head. Full and creamy palate. The taste is just like the aroma which is great. A light bitter finish after all the chocolate and oak flavors is a nice suprise. Really great porter.

Courtesy Quake! Pours dark as midnight with a glorious dark tan head. Full on roasted aroma, with a coffee and, not surprisingly, chocolate coming to the fore front. Some interesting fig notes, ending with some sweet spices Flavor is more of the same. very roasted flavor, with a great espresso like finish. Flavor continues for quite some time. Awesome beer.
