COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As our brewmaster dreams of the sun going down over the Pacific, this medium bodied, malty Red Ale was his first brew at the General. Caramel and toffee flavors blend with imported English hops in this extra smooth ale. Consistently one of our top sellers, the brewer spends a lot less time dreaming of sunsets and more time trying to keep this beer flowing!

Draft at brewpub. Pours deep amber red with an off white head. Flavor of maple, caramel, and toasted malts that is countered by a spicy bitterness. There is some diacetyl on the finish.

Draft. Poured a nice deep amber red body with thin head. Aroma is sweet caramel, hops. Flavor is a light sweet malty body, caramel and light lemony citrus. This was a great sipper and a very smooth body to it. One of the best Amber’s I have ever had.

Growler: Poured a dark hazy amber color with a medium head. The aroma was nice with hint of caramel malts. The flavor was mally and sweet with a nice balance and finish. Overall I was please, as this was one you could drink a few and not get tired.

Pours a very cloudy amber. Flavor is evenly balanced. Nice level of malts with almost a caramel covered apple tone to the flavor. Feel has a full carbonation and a good liquid bodt as well. This is very easy to drink and I could easily have gone for more.

Tap @ General Lafayette. Poured a hazy red amber color with an off-white head. The malty aroma had nutty and caramel notes with some citrusy hops. A little estery as well. The flavor had a malty start with an earthy middle and estery finish. Light to medium body.

On tap at brewpub 2/1/07. Clear reddish copper with a smallish fizzy and foamy head. Some light sticky lacing. Aroma is sweet and malty with a slight graininess and maybe a touch of diacetyl. Flavor is slightly sweet with a moderate bitterness on the finish. A little of the diacetyl presents itself here as well, but it kinda works with this beer. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a slightly creamy texture and moderate soft carbonation. I can’t really knock this too much for the little bit of diacetyl, cause I actually enjoyed it for a change.

Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. An unclear orange-red beer with no head. The aroma is very light with notes of berries. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of berries, toffee, and hints of alcohol, before the abundant use of bitter hops gives it a long lasting bitter finish with a note of citrus (my guess is Chinook).
