As our brewmaster dreams of the sun going down over the Pacific, this medium bodied, malty Red Ale was his first brew at the General. Caramel and toffee flavors blend with imported English hops in this extra smooth ale. Consistently one of our top sellers, the brewer spends a lot less time dreaming of sunsets and more time trying to keep this beer flowing!

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2006 On tap & cask conditioned. Served at cellar temperature. Poured a light, clear mahogany color with no head. Aroma and tastes of light berries. Subtle light tastes and smells.

On cask. Smells of faint malts and mild berries. Taste very mild, sweet and toffeeish. Like countless other ambers nationwide but for the subtle berry/pear notes.

Cask poured a ruby red color with a medium sized off white head and some nice lacing on the glass. Musty aroma of berries, earth, and passion fruit. Taste was of very light hops, but mostly citrus fruits with a berry tartness. This was not too bad.

UPDATED: DEC 1, 2004 I loved this beer. The aroma it gives off is one almost of a fine wine. It pours a beautiful dark amber red with a minimal light tan head. On the palate I found this beer to be smooth, laced with a fine caramel and spicy enough to make me want more and more. A great beer that would be good for any special occasion.

You can tell from the other ratings that this beer is quite distinct and flavorful and sets itself apart quite well. :P Its true, the beer is quite bland and hard to describe as a result. Served on cask. Lightly bitter with lasting head. Slighty, yeast-filled finish. Fairly mild, somewhat bland. Nothing offensive but I'd get someething else from GL if I went again.
