2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at the brewpub, July 2006. An unclear orange-red beer with no head. The aroma is very light with notes of berries. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of berries, toffee, and hints of alcohol, before the abundant use of bitter hops gives it a long lasting bitter finish with a note of citrus (my guess is Chinook).

(11/12/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Lafayette Hill. 5.7%. Hazy red color. Aroma of malt, some toast and caramel. Sweetish caramelly flavor with hints of fruits, and mild earthy hoppy bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Deep red-amber colour. The aroma is quite earthy with a light resinous hoppiness. Chewy and malty flavour with crackery malt base under some sweet crystal. Fairly straightforward with a body that is thinner than the sweetness would suggest.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy dark straw pour with aroma of hopcit and some fruit. The flavor is of caramel malt at the heart with a firm hopcitric presence and some apricot notes.
Earlier Rating: 12/6/2004 Total Score: 4
On draft at GLI, non-cask version. Deep copper colored with medium head. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Tastes malty, fruity, with finishing notes of nuts, caramel, and toffee. The finish had a refreshing sweetness and crispness that makes this one stand out in my mind. This is not your father’s amber ale.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
NondeScript hoppy subtleties play around the fruity caramel. Simplicity is evoked, as are futures of chugging.
Pleasant caramel malt roundness agrees with the prevalent fruitiness. Some tartness rakes the back of the palate, which isn’t really necessary for one’s enjoyment of this amber ale.
A recalcitrant student.
