COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Truly Traditional Ale, available in cask and bottle. One of cricket’s most iconic characters, Yorkshire and England fast bowler Fred Trueman OBE, has been immortalised in a new real ale brewed by Skipton’s Copper Dragon. The Freddie Trueman Yorkshire Ale is being launched to coincide with the unveiling of a bronze statue of the cricketing legend created by Barnsley-based sculptor Graham Ibbeson. Freddie’s wife Veronica Trueman said: “Fred would be overjoyed that a real Yorkshire brewer is behind this. He loved his cricket and his beer as well as the wonderful scenery in this part of North Yorkshire where he lived out his final years.” Steve Taylor, MD of Copper Dragon, comments: “Freddie was a legendary Yorkshireman who spent many of his latter years in the Skipton area with Veronica and everyone at Copper Dragon is delighted that our newest ale carries his name. “It is a refreshing golden ale that brings back memories of cricketing summers and we are sure that Freddie would be suitably impressed when the first bottles land at Freddie’s tribute dinner and barrels hit the pubs and supermarket shelves,” added Steve.

500ml bottle bought at Centra Colosseum in Oslo. Frothy white head really blanketing the glassware. A slight haze to its gold-amber body colour. Dry aroma of fruity hops with semi-sweet malts behind. Fine hop bitter taste containing grass, mild honey sweetness and a bite of resin. Rounded bitter ending. Feels good on the swallow. Not thin at all. A decent Yorkshire ale (Shared with Finn, Tromsø 13.10.2011).

Medium offwhite head. Clear deep yellow body. Light mealy floral aroma, very faint. Dry-sweet mealy floral taste with light fruity notes. Mid-to-light body. Mealy and faintly sharpish mouthfeel. Dry floral papery aftertaste with mealy orangey notes. Low on flavour and kind of boring. (0.5l bottle, Centra Colosseum, Oslo.)

Bottle from Centra Colloseum in Oslo, Norway. Copper colour with a white head. A strange aroma I can not describe. Yeast probably. Sweet fruity, some yeast, caramel and light hoppy.

Flaske 0,33l spandert av og delt med Rune under rateseanse hjemme hos ham 13 Okt 11. Gylden. Høyt luftig skum som fester seg til glasset. Litt uklar. God fruktig aroma. Aprikos. Smaken er frukt. Mer aprikos. Svakt syrlig ettersmak. Mye smak for alkoholstyrken! KI=3 (Centra, Majorstua, Oslo).

16.10.2011. Drinking in the park with Palme and ClubGonzo, early sunday morning! Golden yellow colour off-white head. Smell of wort. Dry bitter finish. A little grassy notes of hops. This not the best ale I have tasted.

ClubGonzo (1978) - Bergen, NORWAY - OCT 30, 2011
Bottle from Centra Colosseum, Oslo. Shared with Palme and RuneStumo in an Oslo park near Youngstorget, in lack of a better place to drink. :-) Clear light nut brown body, medium cloudy off white head. Nose is wort and yeasty hints, otherwise not much to pick up on. Taste is bitter, dry grassy noble hop notes and a rather too thin body. A bit unbalanced, and very boring. Meh.

0.5l bottle from Centra Colosseum, shared with ClubGonzo and RuneStumo in a random Oslo park. Pours a near-clear light nutty-brown body with a nice off-white light fluffy lasting head. Aroma has caramel, nuts, leafs, chocolatish, vort. Average carbonated with a kinda thin oily mouthfeel. Flavors are kinda blend, some thin hops, ends drying the mouth. Drinkable, but a bit boring.

Bottle from Centra, Oslo. Clear amber beer, failry average English bitter. Yeast, malt. Very discreet bitterness. Not impressed, Copper Dragon can do better.

Cask conditioned at The George & Dragon, Knaresborough, N. Yorks. Gold with white head. Simple light session style beer, biscuity malt with an earthy hop. Some floral notes. It’s fine.
