Cask; Regular. Also available in filtered (but not pasteurised) bottle at 4.2%.

A light refreshing blonde ale brewed using a new variety of hop, creating a citrus fruit flavour. Originally brewed as a seasonal ale, Golden Pippin has become such a favourite it is now produced all year round.

Drank at two pubs in Yorkshire, one of the best pale ales ive ever tried. Nice pale colour, with the most wonderful creamy white head and a great array of delicate flavours. Most enjoyable

Cask at The Vine, Manchester. I see this beer everywhere so it must have some sort of following but I fail to see the appeal. It’s a run of the mill golden ale, pale amber in colour with an enduring white head. It has biscuity malts and a long, bitter finish but I detected none of the advertised citrus. A little watery on the palate. Maybe it was an interesting beer once but it’s nothing special by today’s standards. Perfectly drinkable though.

Cask at the Clachan, London, served in a glass tankard. Hazy yellow, still, small vague attempt at a head. Nothing in the aroma. Body is medium, smooth, no real carbonation. Taste is thin and watery, suggestions of citrus (like over-diluted squash), background floral, soft bitterness builds over time. Pretty plain.

Cask at the Duck in the Pond (Ember Inns), Harrow. Pale gold with a thin white head. Sweet lemon and melon are nice upfront but fade quickly and leave little in the aftertaste. Slightly dry finish but needs to be a lot crisper and with a few more hops- what?s there is pleasant enough but there?s not enough of it.
