3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 4, 2012
500ml brown bottle (4.4%ABV) BBD unreadable, but sometime in 2012!
Poured (twice) into a ’Back Forty Beer Co’ badged US pint glass. Nice deep golden body, clear and clean looking, on top a thin white coat of tight bubbles.
The label wanted the beer chilled and served at 8 degrees C, it was. This effected the smell, only hops at first, but as the beer warmed maltly biscuits and toasted brown bread esters arrived.
The taste was also hoppy at first, wether the beer was cool or warming, the hops ruled the flavours. Refreshing and fairly sharp on the tongue, an ideal summers day pint with a ’Ploughmans Lunch’: I had some mature Cheddar and Double Gloucester with my pint and they suited each other perfectly.
