Dark brown with a reddish tint - nose is rich and malty (toffee), with very mild touches of hickory smoke - hard to detect the bacon over the rich, creamy maltiness - flavors of toffee, caramel, light earthy bitterness, followed by mild woodsmoke and some alcohol warmth - a touch of saltiness from the bacon - my only complaint is that you can taste some of the vodka used to extract the flavor from the bacon - besides the quasi-gimmick, it’s a really solid scottish ale.

Tap @ brewery. Dark orangish brown appearance with a light brown head. Camp fire smoky, quite peppery, caramel, light toffee aroma. Sort of weird salt and pepper flavor like Salt and Pepper Kettle chips. Beef jerky/bacon, peppery, caramel flavor. Kind of a strange concoction but it has a really nice mesquite note to it.

Part of a flight at the brewery. Hazy, dark brown pour with, surprisingly, a bit of a head. Not oily like other bacon beers I’ve tried. Smoky, meaty aroma. Flavor is smoky, got definite bacon, with a nice peppery aspect coming through in the finish. Original and delicious. Fuck yeah bacon!

Pour out of tap, dark brownish black with white head, aroma has notes of sweet dark fruits, oak, smoke, hints of dark chocolate, hints of smoke, hints of bacon. Taste is much more bacon forward but still pretty reserved, slight biscuit, caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruits, nice bacon and smoky notes, finishing fairly smoky. Pretty decent, but the bacon is hard to find.

Clearish nutty amber with a lasting off white head with lots of lace down the glass. Aroma is pretty dang complex, with notes of hickory, sweet brown maltiness, a touch of bacon and some sort of syrupy smokiness. Taste is nice and sweet with some light hickory bacon, grainy brown malt sweetness, a touch of peat action, and some very gentle smokiness. Sweet overall but a touch smoky and peppery. And meaty. Delightful.
