Tap at Copper Kettle - amber ale? - this needs to be listed as an American Strong Ale - turbid amber pour - thick head - sits somewhere between barley wine and double IPA - initial malt sweetness with flavors of caramel, oats - moderate fruity esters - dries out a bit through the middle - earthy hops and potent bitterness, but also quite a bit of strong, nearly metallic acidity, which detracts considerably from the enjoyment - there are strengths, but not enough of them to make me want this beer again - tastes like a drier, much more acidic Bigfoot Ale - the world does not need another mediocre imperial red ale - copper kettle, please stick to the less hoppy styles; the world needs more of those

Growler poured a clear reddish amber with a lingering ring of amber foam. Aromas of carmel, tropical fruitpeach, orange and light mint. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry chalky finish. Flavors of carmel, orange and light grapefruit with a smooth dry chalkycarmel finish.

On tap @ brewery. Orange brown appearance with a tan head. Dull caramel malty, light piney, moderately hoppy nose. Caramel, toffee, fairly malty, earthy, piney hoppy flavor. Pretty good brew.

Hazy dark copper, thin withe head. Great aroma of caramel and cascade grassy hops. Taste was a little uncomplecated, yet lively. Light hop bitterness, big hop leafy flavor, with some nutty caramel. Tastes imperial, but not nuanced. Still a fantastic beer, though.
