A dry black ale with dark roasted malt flavors blended with bittersweet chocolate, red Mexican chili peppers, and ground cinnamon for an exotic punch on the palate. Inspired by a 500 year old Aztec recipe for Mexican hot chocolate.

22 oz bottle shared with drsordr and Corey at the team meeting. Pours a dark cola brown color with a small beige head. The aroma and flavor have bigger peppery spice, some berry like notes, spices, chocolate, peppery heat to the finish, would like to see the double version or coffee version for comparison.

Poured from a large bottle into a pint glass. The beer had wet dark brown-black appearance with a deep ruby hue and a good-sized creamy dark tan head with average retention and cling, but good lacing. Its aroma featured a mix of malty flavors, including chocolate, cocoa, caramel, and bits of pepper and cinnamon. The taste had a smooth wet chocolate flavor with a bit of caramel, that quickly gave way to spice and cinnamon. It was a fairly wet and watery beer with lower carbonation and a lighter mouthfeel.

22oz bomber. Aroma is very off putting, strong metallic notes slight cocoa. Flavors of cocoa, faint coffee, chilli finish. The chillis finish warm on the tip of the tongue. Smooth mouthfeel somewhat watery.

650 bottle. Bottle was a gusher. Black with a medium tan head that had somewhat poor retention and soon faded to a fine ring. The aroma was quite pungent with chili peppers and cocoa. Taste mirrored with aroma with chili peppers in the forefront backed by cocoa and dark chocolate. The whole concoction has an underlying lactate sweetness that seems to work rather well here. The palate was medium and appropriate. Finished long with lingering sugars and chili peppers. Overall: Decent.

Pours opaque black with an ecru head with decent lacing. Aroma of peppers, chocolate and whiskey. The taste was somewhat vegetal with subtle hints of chocolate, oak and bourbon. Medium/full bodied with light/medium carbonation. Decent Mexican stout but nothing special.

Tap at Brewery. Deep red brown with minimal head. Graham cracker, chipotle, chocolate milk and a little vegetal. Nice spicy burn with a slight vegetal/chalky aftertaste. Medium body with the peppery burn feel.
