4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cinnamon up front on the nose, but not overdone (provided you like cinnamon). Chillies not strong in the nose or palate, but you feel a pleasant tingle and low burn in the throat. Malty and chocolately, quite well balanced and pu together. Dug this quite a bit

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured on tap at the brewery.
I should say Iíve had many versions, including the original with Thai peppers added. From the 2nd batch on it has only been Mexican peppers.
Always a winner...a growler refill costs $25 but hey, at least they will sell it and itís worthy, especially for a party or food pairing!
Pours black with small dark head.
Big aroma of dark malts, dark chocolate, bitter chocolate.
Modest carbonation with big mouthfeel.
Flavors of red pepper, dark chocolate, dark roasted malts...wonderfully balanced and intriguing...large tantalizing effect in the mouth...big malts, significant but hidden hops...flavorful and satisfying if not inviting. Could be dangerous in a can!! The best version I had was aged in a Tequila barrel.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle. Pours dark brown black with a medium fizzy creamy brown head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet roast chocolate with chilis and lots of cinnamon spice.
The flavor is sweet chocolate malts with a little roast, lots of cinnamon and quite a bit of heat from the chili peppers. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, an interesting beer. Lots of cinnamon and chili heat - almost over the top, but I like it. Seemed a bit milder and better balanced on tap.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wow, tasty. Like drinking Mexican hot chocolate. Pour was dark brown. Chiles stood out in aroma. Plenty of heat, cinnamon, and chocolate in taste. Balanced. Heavy mouthfeel...definitely a bottle sharer.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
August 24th, 2012 - Copper Kettleís Mexican Chocolate Stout is the grand finale in my taster of CRís brews. It is essential that this comes at the end, where the spicy flavor will strip your tongue, denuding it of taste buds and making everything you sip afterwards taste like a mud puddle. But I begin with the aroma, as I always do, where I quickly catch the impaling, sharp hooks of cinnamon, clove, and freshly cut jalapeŮo. The chili pepper infusion is going to dominate wherever I go, so I move onto the taste. Hereís what I wrote: "Gahhhh. GAHHHH. AHHHHH. SO SPICE." Pepper in beer is just one of those flavors I canít handle. Iíve never met a chili pepper beer I could even tolerate. My throat seizes, my stomach gurgles, and my brain cringes as soon as one of these spicy brews touches my tongue. Itís possible that thereís deep, rich, chocolatey flavors in here, or that I was served up an especially spicy batch, or that where I more tolerant of spiciness, Iíd find this to be a brilliantly executed take on spicy brews. But I canít detect any of that. And sadly, nobody in my party could either, and so the poor thing had to be pushed back towards the bartender - a heart rending gesture.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour at SAVOR. Dark brown color with a small, light tan head. Aroma was roasted notes, chocolate, roast, vanilla character. Flavor was some light spice notes, spiced cake notes, cinnamon, and some chocolate notes. Pretty darn tasty.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2014 Bomber. Strong cinnamon aroma with some chocolate and chilies. Pours black with a very thin off white head and no lacing. Starts with a good mixture of chocolate and cinnamon to taste a lot like a regular hot chocolate drink. The finish, however, really brings the heat. It starts the same as the initial flavor, but heat from the chilies come at the very end and it lingers on the palate and the the back of the throat for a long time afterword. Nice brew, but the heat lingers a little too much for my tastes.
