COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry black ale with dark roasted malt flavors blended with bittersweet chocolate, red Mexican chili peppers, and ground cinnamon for an exotic punch on the palate. Inspired by a 500 year old Aztec recipe for Mexican hot chocolate.

Initially thought this beer was dominated by pepper but pairing it with some siracha pulled pork numbed my palate to the spicyness and allowed the chocolate and cinnamon to cone through better. Much better with food than as a sipper.

This poured a darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of chocolate, cinnamon, and ppepers. Flavor similar, but very subdued, almost like a session Mexican stout. Not bad bit wish it was bolder.

On tap@ Copper Kettle. Black with tan foam. Chili pepper, cinnamon, dark chocolate aromas. Medium body. Dark chocolate, cinnamon flavors with a lingering chili pepper burn to finish----good

Smell is cinnamon and malt. Taste is chili pepper taste and heat immediately followed by malt. The heat is just too much. Medium body, medium carbonation, and mild foam.

12/6/14. Shared by rdixon77 at a VSU tailgate! Nice! Black pour with a nice tan head, good lacing. Nice aroma, lots of chocolate, a great mix of cinnamon and peppers. Great flavor, chocolate, pepper spiciness, cinnamon, vanilla. Tasty stuff!

Pours a very dark brown with a mochaccino colored head. Nice looking beer. Chocolate cake and coffee on the nose. Limp, yet coating mouth feel. A fruity, malty, oatmeal, and mediciny flavors.

When Copper Kettle first opened, I had this on tap and it was one of the most mind blowing beers I had every had. Admittedly, it is still quite good, but not nearly what it used to be. It is still rich in spicy pepper flavor and strong cinnamon, though lacks the chocolate flavor that it used to have.

Poured thick and syrupy. Completely opaque black with dark lingering head. Cocoa and cinnamon aroma. Taste is much spicier than I expected. Flavor is sweet cocoa and cinnamon but with overpowering cayenne and white pepper. Really interesting but not something I would want to drink often.

Wow! Interesting and tasty beer. Nose is incredibly inviting, with wholesome hints of chocolate and spices. Texture is very smooth, full and soft on the tongue, with just a mild carb level. Chilies quickly heat up the back of the throat, and the alcohol intensifies the burn a bit. Chocolate-milk-like sweetness attempts to tame things, but the burn wins in the end. Fantastic chocolate flavors from start to finish, and the cinnamon in the background is perfect. But the heat becomes a bit much, IMO, and it kind of distracts from all the other wonderful things going on. Regardless, it’s a tasty beer.
