On tap at Copper Kettle poured a clear dark reddish brown nearly black with a small lingering brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, light carmel and a hint of chilies. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a warming finish. Flavors of cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla and light chilies with a smooth warming lingering cinnamon finish.

On tap at the brewery in Denver, CO. Pours a black colored body with a finger-width, very creamy, dark brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is rich dark chocolates and sweet milky chocolates with a nice, soft cinnamon smell. Some coconut, a light roast, and some earthy peppers with a touch of heat. The flavor has a much more distinct pepper, but there is enough going on to balance. Lots of cinnamon ginger-bread cookies with a nice mix of dark and milky chocolates. Some more coconut and a moderate roast backing before the peppers really come on. They start a bit vegetal and earthy, but bring a nice heat towards the end and into the aftertaste. Finishes slightly dry with a big spicy heat, but really well balanced with enough of a sweet malt backing. Cinnamon also blends well in a lengthy aftertaste following a smooth, medium body and a soft, medium-light carbonation. Overall, I really liked this. Lots of hot peppers and cinnamon, but a great sweet malt backing keeps things very well balanced and easy drinking. Great beer.

Sample at the brew pub. Pours a thin mocha head, over a dark brown (SRM 40) body....nosse is coffee, cinnamon....taste is coffee, cinnamon, chili heat arrives late and lingers....mouth feel medium, carbonation high. Chili dominates finish, with heat being the most common characteristic after the first few sips. BJCP 7/3/10/4/5

Tap @ Copper Kettle, Denver. Pours black with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, cinnamon, dark chocolate, drak fruit, coconut. Taste is malt, dark chocolate, fruit, chilly, cinnamon, smoky. Medium body, soft carbonation, finish is chilly at first, then a staying cinnamon flavor takes over. Different, wellthought and original brew, but i cant see myself downing a pint of this. 200212

Strong cinnamon nose. Very distinct bitter chocolate with a spicy chili in the back. The chili flavor, as opposed to just the spice, could be stronger. Sticky mouthfeel.

Cinamon-spiced aroma. Blcak in color with tan head. Spicey hot in the throat with cinamon notes. The spice just lingers. Fantastic and unique!

The best thing I’ve put in my mouth since Miller Union’s Mexican Hot Chocolate Ice Cream. The beer pours a black color. The nose exudes a rich sweet chocolate and roasted pepper aroma. The palate is full bodied and has a rich chocolatiness with just enough burn to enhance the chocolate flavor. Awesome and we need this in Georgia.

On tap at Denver Summer Beer Fest, pours dark black with nice creamy tan head. Aroma is full of spices, with notes of cinnamon, some slight vegetal chili pepper, touch of chocolate in there as well. Taste is interesting but way over the top, like eating a tablespoon of cinnamon. Intense cinnamon notes in the beginning, some slight chocolate and roast, and then the heat builds up on the back end. The one glass was enough.

Aroma: chocolate, spicy/cinnamon. Appearance: black, off-white head. Taste: very bitter, very spicy. medium body, thin feel, lively, long finish. Overall: This beer would qualify as a "stunt" beer in my book. I like the idea a lot! The main taste is spice/pepper. Except for the very first nose...no chocolate. But, the idea of a Chocolate/Pepper Mexican beer is a very sexy. It comes on very strong with the first draw, and maintains that. However after about the 4th or 5th draw all you start to taste is pepper. I don’t believe the ingredient they are using for the "pepper" flavor/taste is a natural additive, as it backed up a couple of times while drinking and the after taste was something that reminded me of the ’pepper’ taste in Beechman’s gum. A great idea. I would hope they might improve on the ingredients to really bring out the Chocolate and the Cinnamon. Could be a great beer. Not yet.

On nitro tap. Deep dark black, small tight tan head. Smelled of cinnamon graham cracker, but tasted quite spicy with notes of cinnamon, roasted dark malts and light bitter chocolate. I expected more roasted chocolate but this is unique and interesting. Great body and flavor, just got tired of the lingering chili spice.
