3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hellbilly (3053) - scottsdale über alles, USA - AUG 18, 2008
bottle by way of kramer... pours a fairly opaque dark brown and ruby with a spongy toasted almond colored head. the aroma is chocolate, light smokiness, earth, grass and creme fraiche... there’s definitely a sour creaminess to it. that sour/acidity carries over to the flavor where it meets up with lightly ashy wood, toasted walnuts, floral hops, some yeast presence, roasty grain and a herbal spicy finish. underneath those flavors lies a strange almost medicinal characteristic... it’s odd, really difficult to describe but not off putting. medium body. creamy soft carbonation.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 23, 2009
Bottle at Tom’s Tasting, April 2009. Dark brown. No head. A bit sour on the palate (not in a good way). Thin mouthfeel. Presumably some infection here but I didn’t find it as unpalatable as the rest of the crew did.

A Mes rate: bottle at The Cadster’s Spotify tasting. Thanks to Danny for this. Nice of him to think of me. Sadly the beer was a real mess. Stale, like really stale. What was underneath the problems seemed to be ok,mainly roasty maltbut damn, this has not bottled well at all.
0.7 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 1/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 3, 2009
Bottle thanks to mes, had at the cads first london tasting. Alround rating: This was incredible. A burnt coconut and mouldy carrot stew, mildue and old yeast in the corner of the cellar. No idea what happened here but this was absolutly terrible.
0.7 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 1/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - APR 27, 2009
Bottle at the Spotify tasting. Roasted malt flavour. Coconut and bleach on the flavour. Oh that really is poor. I couldn’t even drink more than 2 sips.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Alldaydrinker (559) - Norwood, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 19, 2009
Pours a dark brown color with a small khaki head. Nose is roasted, coffee, chocolate. Initial taste little smokey, roasted malt, touch of coffee. Definitely getting the burnt flavors. Mid palate displays mild chocolate but mostly dominated by the roasted and burnt flavors. Finishing dry with a above average palate duration. Average head retention. Body is light and drinkable. Definitely a different porter.

Bottle, from Kramer. Nice deep, rich black color. Flavor was very nice - deep roasted flavors, lots of hops and a nice chocolate finish. Very drinkable. Pretty good.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 GodOfThunder (1218) - Orlando, Florida, USA - SEP 16, 2008
I had this in a bottle poured into a wine glass.
Pours a typical dark brown, but with just a little bit of a white head. Smell is a little smokey, not sweet.
Taste is exactly like it smells. It is very light, almost refreshing, but with smokey aftertones. Lots of roasted malts. There is really no sweetness at all. It tastes like a mild rauchbier.
Overall, I’d say this is a lot more drinkable than a typical porter, or a typical rauchbier. I would recommend this for somebody who wants to get into rauchbiers, but it a little afraid. It’s a good beer. Extremely light and drinkable, but still having a complex smokiness to it.
Thumbs up!

12oz bottle, no date from kramer, thank you Jason! I’m not one for being cuddly, but it is one of the cuter labels I’ve come across--I’ll have to give the bottle to my gf’s niece for her 3rd b-day. Clear deep ruby with a 1/2 finger tan head, fading to a thick ring and tattered film after 30 seconds or so. Roasty malts and burnt malts up front with a bit of burnt plastic, and some light dark chocolate notes. Flavor is quite ashy and burnt with some sweet caramel attempting to mask the flaw, but the sweet and burnt ash are two separate entities--usually porters and/or stouts will smell sweet, but won’t taste it at all--this is the opposite. I doubt this has any strength at all to it, but some alcohol is detectable. Bitterness peaked around a 3. Low carbonation with a light body. Not too bad, but not a must-have beer, either.

Bottle, maybe form Kramer. Brownish pour with a fizzy head. There is a definite smokiness to this, a bit hammy, backing up what is otherwise more of a brown ale than a porter. Fairly easily drinkable but metallic. Goes down a touch sweet. Decent enough.
