COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An extra special bitter or ESB, with a darker hue than a British best bitter but with a more assertive body. The marris otter malt, or English 2 row, tends to be more pronounced, often tasting toasty or bready. Despite "bitter" being in the name, extra special bitters are balanced well between malt and hop flavors.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is clear amber with a big cream-colored head and great lacing. Husky, doughy, bready, light grass, somewhat floral, and grainy aroma. Taste is rye bread, sourdough, honey, lightly floral, biscuity, and crackery malt. Full body with soft carbonation. Not a bad bitter.

On cask at Copper Kettle. Ruby red color, short creamy head, kind of hazy but hard to tell in the lighting. Smells fruity and malty. Taste was a nice caramel with a hint of fruit but not too bitter at all. Very nice for the style and the creamy mouthfeel is what probably sealed the deal for me. Would order this again easily. Sampler at the brewery. Pours a thin off white head, over a clear amber (SRM 8) body.....nose is cereal , malts with light toffee/caramel.......taste is light toffee/caramel, bitter hops....mouth feel medium, carbonation high. Meeting the style, this is not quite as complex as hoped for, but an easy drinker, with nicely balanced aromas and flavors. BJCP 7/3/12/4/7

Pour on tap at the brewery is clear orange with white head, aroma brought notes of slight caramel and grassy notes, slight spice as well with maybe a touch of crackery malts. Taste is fairly simple and a bit weak, hints of biscuit and cracker malts with a hint of richer sugars of caramel and toffee, slight grass and spice notes finish slightly bitter but more on the sweet side.

Tap @ CK. Hazy, dark orange appearance with an off white head. Mild toasty malty, caramel, straw aroma. Fairly sweet, toffee/caramel, light fruity flavor. Pretty sweet but not bad.

Murky dark orange, almost like a dark honey, with a very laceful head that recedes into a fine cap. Nice toasty bready aroma with tones of toffee and earthy cereal grains, a touch of caramel and a light noble hop essence. Flavor is very British malty, with earthy toasty notes, a fair bit of toffee, a touch of roasted caramalt, but finishes kinda drying with a dusty grassy hop bitterness. Quite balanced, but is a little too sharp on the front palate, not malty smooth enough all the way through.

Hazy dark copper - soapy lace - nose is bready and moderately yeasty, with a mild fruitiness/esters, a light acidity and a touch of buttery character - flavor is medium sweet and lightly bready - surprisingly fruity, with notes of strawberry - finish has a bit of diacetyl, lightly earthy, bitter hops and a touch of acidity - okay, but fairly weak for this brewer.
