3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 PorterPounder (4108) - Tallahassee, USA - NOV 17, 2004
Had on tap at the Copper Tank Brewery in Austin,Tx. Dark ruby red to dark brown appearance. Thin, slightly mocha colored head, slight lacing. Aroma has some nutty notes. Flavor has some strong chocolate notes which are quite nice and surprisingly strong. Some nutty notes come through as well. Finish is a bit weak.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 RateandPillage (426) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - JAN 23, 2005
Pours reddish-brown with little head. Some maltiness and nuttiness in both aroma and flavor. Very thin, kind of just a light american beer with more color. I didn’t like this one much at all.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 pivo (2540) - GERMANY - MAR 7, 2004
Poor showing overall. Light nose, auburn color, no head. Cherry fruitiness and a some nutty roasted malt tones. Metallic bitter end. Thin. Haphazard balance.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - FEB 26, 2003
Looks kinda like red tea and doesn't taste all that different! Flat. Vague nutty tastes.

Soap-like tackiness and astringency. Vaguely hoppy finish, but there was nothing to it, especially when set against my pulled pork sandwich on day-old bread (and cold french fries)--in fairness, this was the day after Thanksgiving. (on tap at Austin location)

A nice brown...not in the same class with Newcastle...very smooth and very drinkable. Didn’t taste any chocolate though.

Dark brown. Caramelly maltiness, rather sweet, and - yes, a hint of chocolate. Medium bitterness.
