PorterPounder (2850), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Nov 3, 2004 On tap at the brewpub in Austin, Tx. Medium copper appearance, with a somewhat thick white creamy head. Mouthfeel is a bit artificial and sticky. Flavor has some subtle caramel notes as well as some hints of cotton candy sugarness. Some hints of stale vegetable notes come through in the backend. Not all that bad, would drink again - especially for a $1 a pint - how does this place make money! CaptainCougar (4663), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 18, 2004 Pours a pure copper color with a thin, short-lived white head. Semi-sweet aroma of caramel malt. Body starts with a candy-like sweetness, before going through a macro tasting lager stage and finishing lightly caramelized. This could definitely use some balance and could benefit from getting away from whatever yeast they're using. Nuffield (2541), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Nov 29, 2002 Rather simple, but this grew on me. Plain aroma, nutty flavor and attractive color. (on tap at Austin location) Andrew196 (1089), Anaheim Hills, California, USA Oct 2, 2002 I may have to say that this is the best octoberfest I have ever had. A color reminiscent of halloween...creamy orange.....full flavor with ginger, thick malt, wheat and chocolate....kickass! aceofhearts (1373), San Francisco, California, USA Oct 1, 2002 Maybe it was just the pour, but there was NO head on mine. Smelled just like a leafy Oktoberfest with a vanilla sort of hoppiness. The flavor suddenly turns sweet toward the finish and then comes out with an unexpected burst-o-chocolate. Didn’t really finish like an Oktoberfest, but I liked it a lot. Probably the best Copper Tank beer I’ve had.
