Dec 15 CBAC. Dark walnut with almost no head but still some light lacing. Rather strong herbal, rooty, chocoloate scent. Velvety body. Flavour has all the earthiness, roots, heather and light chocolate of the aroma. Nice body. Has the feeling of a desert beer.

Pours a clear reddish brown with a nice brown cap. Aroma of wood, whiskey, dried fruit & pumpkin. Taste is dry fruits up front with some pumpkin and oaky/Woody notes on the finish. Kinda of an oddball beer but faiy creative.

No idea what is going in here. Smells of wood, roasts and pumpkin seeds. Ok, I lied - I do know what’s going on. But it won’t stop this low effort review from happening. Ok taste. Tasty fruit with a mild sweet spice, oddness, and mild umyuxk. I lied - I have no idea what is going on here. Somewhat yuck after taste. Enjoyed that in waves and disliked it just as often. I’ll give it between a .5 & 5.

UPDATED: NOV 1, 2012 16.9 oz bottle. Pours mahogany with a collapsing beige head. Aroma is cookie-ish, caramelly, roasty. Taste starts out sweet (sweet like many European stouts/porters, but bordering on cloying) before turning bitter and roasty. I’m not getting the roasted pumpkin seeds, although it is a roasty beer. This is alright, but I wouldn’t want more than one. Just a sidenote here: I added a little bit of this beer to a cup of black coffee, thinking the roastiness of both would compliment each other, and they did (extremely well, in fact; it’s better in the coffee than by itself!), but what was surprising is that the pumpkin seeds were totally evident when it was mixed with the coffee. I don’t know why or how, but I thought that was kind of cool.

330ml bottle pours a golden color with a small white head that leaves very little lacing on the glass. Aroma is grains and grass. Taste is a grainy malt sweetness with a grassy hop bitterness. Light bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, a decent brew.

16.9 oz. bottle- Pours clear dark brown to red on the first pour with a thin tan head that reduces to a collar. The aroma is vegetal, spices, European, thin aroma. The taste is European as well, the pumpkin is more just a generic vegetal taste, kind of spicy, Euro minerals. I guess If I think about it it kind of reminds me of pumpkin seeds, not the best pumpkin beer out there, but a decent if not average beer.

Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark ruddy copper/amber with a creamy beige head. Aroma is sort of spiced cola. Med minus body. Flavor is vanilla schwarzbier with cola and touches of chocolate and treacle. It’s quite astringent. Finishes just on the sweet side. Odd given the astringency. Babelfish translates Kürbiskernbier as Pumpkin beer. Never would have pulled that out of this beer.
