On tap at the Wisconsin Micro-Brewer’s Beer Fest. Poured deep brown with a creamy, well-retained cap of tan head. The aroma picked up sweeter, candied chocolate with earth, vanilla, and a touch of toffee around.. interesting components, and soothing overall. The flavor found semi-sweet roasted chocolate with hits of molasses and star anise at the core.. toasty black patent for the most part on the back.. tasty. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate with a bit of a scratchy feel to it.. light spicy pine showed up randomly at the middle.. this was solid, but was missing a little something that could have made it great.
