Skyview (2637), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Oct 28, 2007 Sampled on draught at the brewpub in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Pours a semi-clear golden amber brew with a thick and creamy white head that has good retention and excellent lacing. Aroma of light roasted white bread malt, some apple peel, nutmeg, and a touch of grassy hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated, with a good balance of apple and malt flavors. When first trying this, the beer has a sharp apple skin tart on the tip of the tongue and then a sweet after flavor when it hits the back of your tongue. Finish has a light, yet crisp apple and bread flavor that quickly disappears. Not bad for a first time apple fruit beer. JPDIPSO (4178), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Oct 27, 2007 LIghtly hazed light golden color. Faint apple scents, with a touch of biscuit and apple skin. Fairly light feel. Light dough and just a touch of apple flavor lurking in the background. A nice change of pace from the typical cider infused apple ale. A touch of dryness from the apples is noted in the finish and keeps this crisp and light. Good effort. I’d like to see this bumped up a touch in both malt and apple, but I’m afraid they may loose some of the balance.
