kujo9 (1043), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA Aug 16, 2005 On tap 7/28/05: Black stout w/a lasting milk chocolate colored head. Coffee in the immediate nose as well as chocolate & hints of vanilla and caramel. Also slightly nutty as it warms. Initial flavor starts with burnt grains, then has a resiny hop flavor. Chocolate follows closely behind as does some roasty flavor. Not much else! Finish is dry w/a lingering hop bitterness. Overall flavor is a bit on the just too bitter side. Lower carbonation, medium full body, and dry borderline astringent m/f. It has all the makings of a good stout, but it’s not there yet. Less hop bitterness might make this one a bit more enjoyable, as well as a bit less burnt grain flavor.
