| A Sweet Stout brewed by Cornerstone Brewing Company Berea, Ohio USA
| |
Brigadier (820), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Mar 19, 2008 Growler
I picked this up while on the west side of Cleveland running errands. It turned out to be pretty decent though hardly earth shaking. I don’t get the impression that Cornerstone is a brewery who is willing to take chances and it shows in this product. As far as stouts go it isn’t bad. It just plays the safe card a little too closely.
Aroma / Appearance - The light black body showed signs of carbonation along the sides of the glass. Even after a night in the fridge open there was still a bit of life left. Iced coffee with milk creamer and toasted white bread create a breakfast for the olfactory sense. Everything blends well but not spectacularly.
Flavor / Palate - Light smoke competes with cheap Easter candy and dry Wonderbread to form a boring selection. Chocolate Jello pudding pops out just before a sweet finish. My main complaint is that it feels a little thin and watery even accounting for the style. By adding slightly more flavor to the body this could easily be improved.
