Originally reviewed: 5/30/08. This is the epitome of Mexican beers, yet to get anything out of it, fruit needs to be added. I never understood that. My friends all say it tastes like a Mexican meal in a drink form. I wouldn’t go that far. Pours very pale yellow, virtually no head. Smells corny, some malt, slight hop. Pretty easy to drink, which is dangerous, cuz it’s not that good. Best served cold. Would pass on this for more flavorful beer for sure.

Bottle. I have tried it with and without a lime. I learned that you need the lime to help cover the skunkiness. I was in the Yucatan Peninsula and a local asked our group if anyone had had Mexican beer. Someone replied "Yeah, Corona." The local replied, "Maybe you don’t understand my English. Has anyone had Mexican BEER." I laughed.

Let me start off by stating that "Cerveza" is piss. (not literally, but it might as well be) No wonder you need the lime wedge. Clear bottle!? Skunk city if it’s not stored in a dark place. Looks like someone’s drug test sample. Taste is barely passable with mexican food IF you use the lime, otherwise, if you must drink mexican beer with mexican food, try a Dos Equis - but stay away from the one that has glass chips in it (dark variety?)

355ml clear glass bottle (Texas Honkytonk, Tallinn)
I hate clear glass bottles. The beer looks like a urine sample. Started without the lime. There’s bugger all aroma, just a vague pale lager sweet corniness. Thi fizzy palate, very watery. Mega bland taste, this is classic canoe sex. Add the lime, and it tastes limeyer. Worse than that, it makes it taste sour in an off way. Dropping the overall by one because of that, it’s heading towards nasty. Fairly clean, definitely uncontaminated by taste.

From the can poured a very pale yellow brew with a white head that didn’t last long. Aromas and flavors were well balanced but barely detectable. Very light bodied. This beer taste really good when it’s really cold.

330 ml bottle. Light yellow pour with little head. Skunky to the nose. Not much flavor like any mass produced and marketed beverage. Thirst quencher when really cold and one has run out of beer.

Pours piss yellow. Smell of skunk really hits you in the nose. Taste is similar. Lime makes it bearable.

355ml clear glassed bottle from Mexico (it is also brewed under licence in Australia by CUB). Bright yellow pour with a negligible white head. Not much on the nose or palate (faint sweet grainy malts with cardboard notes and barely any hop presence). Light watery mouthfeel. An utterly innocuous pale lager that can only be so popular for reasons of style over substance.

355 ml bottle. Pours clear yellowish golden with minimal white head that disappears quickly. A really skunky aroma with some malt, corn and plastic. A really horrible taste of malt, corn and cigarrette. Watery mouthfeel and stingy carbonation. Hayish aftertaste. Not refreshing, Bad price vs. quality.

La bière typique de masse, sans saveur, sans arôme, sans bouche. Pas imbuvable, mais rien d’interessant
