When naming this Baltic porter, a collaboration with Tampa’s famed Cigar City Brewing, we opted for Jurata as a nod to a mythological mermaid known to roam the depths of the Baltic Sea, just as energetic yeast used to brew this deep dark beer navigated our fermentation tanks. Dive in and enjoy Jurata’s true-to-style rich and complex flavors!

On tap, Proof. Licorice colored pour - maybe I’m imagining that I can see through it. Light tan head. Slightly candied, cola-roast flavor with some leathery notes. Lighter body than I was expecting, but the mouthfeel is smooth. A little fruitiness on the backend, with a clean finish. Good, not great.

Dark pour with a very thin, tan head. Disappeared quickly. Mild roasted coffee and chocolate aroma, a bit of black pepper. Tannic, leathery black coffee taste, a bit of bittersweet chocolate and, well, burned wood. Very light body for a porter. Would I drink again? maybe. Would I order again? no.

Tallahassee, Fl - Earth Fare Market - 22 oz bomber. Deep dark black asphalt-like pour with a soft and sticky khaki colored head. Aroma has some light creosote accents, a touch of licorice. Bold flavor with some nice coffee accents, some bittersweet dark chocolate, a bit of molasses, and a finish twinged with licorice. Mouthfeel could be a tad thicker to match the flavor profile. Solid Baltic Porter.

Oh those Baltic mermaids of legend. You know, the ones that eat caviar and lay oil pipes on the ocean floor.
