COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When naming this Baltic porter, a collaboration with Tampa’s famed Cigar City Brewing, we opted for Jurata as a nod to a mythological mermaid known to roam the depths of the Baltic Sea, just as energetic yeast used to brew this deep dark beer navigated our fermentation tanks. Dive in and enjoy Jurata’s true-to-style rich and complex flavors!

Pours almost opaque prune into the glass, with an initial head that reduces to thinning lace. The nose is of dark fruits, yeasty esters, banana bread and some liqueur notes. Flavors of of dark fruits, dark esters, breadiness, raisins, figs and dates, with a dark fruit skin/tannin and lightly roasted grain finish. The mouthfeel is smooth, with a rich body and silky palate. I enjoy this a lot. Superb take on the Baltic Porter. Prost!

glennmastrange (2431) - hobe sound, Florida, USA - FEB 12, 2015
Bottle. Heavy dark bread, cereal and dark chcocolate for the malt, light herbs for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast. Head is small, fizzy, light brown, with heavy lacing and is fully lasting. Color is very dark brown. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Palate is medium to full, creamy with a lively carbonation and a chalky finish. A nicely crafted Baltic Porter, one of the best I’ve had.

Aroma has coffee, chocolate, and a little metallic funk that burned off after a while. Flavor is strong and malty, bittersweet with chocolate and dark fruit. Coffee bitterness in the finish. Nice effort.

Bottle. He pour is a dirty brown. The aroma is sweet toffee and some roastyness. The taste continues with the toffee, but more subtle than the nose. A little thin overall, but good beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
