On tap, Smoke ’em if ya Gots ’em Fest 2010. Pours a clear dark brown body with a moderate fizzy amber head. Rather smoky nose with some nice nutty notes. Reminds me of fresh roasted pecans at a fair. The mix of nuttiness and smoke doesn’t really mix too well in the flavor, but it’s at least smoky. Nutty, slightly sweet, with a touch of hop bitterness on the back end. Medium bodied with a touch of clingy sweetness and fizzy carbonation. Decent, but not great.

Medium brown color. Smoked bacon, chocoately, very dry nose. Mouth is moderately smokey, dry and chocolately. This is the perfect beer for BBQ ribs IMO. Lovely stuff.

Tap at Blue Palms - lucky 7th rate. I wanted to believe, but was quickly shown skepticism. Nose is dark and mineral-roasty. Color is dark brown. Then it falls apart: flavor is overly tart and grainy, which destroys the roasty and brown ale characteristics.

Thick heavy pour with great aroma and flavor. The beer has a heavy smoke but goes well with the chocolate brown base of the beer. Very enjoyable.

On-tap at Stone. Pours dark brown with a good sized, fizzy, tan head with good retention and spider web lace. Smells lightly smokey with a good dose of stale dishwater, not too bad though, slightly sour. Tastes good. Sweet roasted malts and some smoke, not overly smokey though, slightly sour malt flavors as well. Medium body, vibrant carbonation. Overall its ok, I hope they put some in barrels.

Draft at small bar: pours a muddy brown with a large, glassy tan head. Smells sweet and malty with hints of smoke peaking through. My first impression...wow, the 3 previous raters must have been sleeping through this beer. The smoke here isn’t overpowering but it is evident regardless, bringing a flavorful mesquite meatiness to the flavors. The body is thick and coating but not overly full...imperial brown is a good description for the body here. The malts are somewhat sweet but serve as a foundation for the smoke flavors. I quite like this...if it was lower alcohol and just a plain old smoked brown ale, I don’t think it would work...but the higher abv and fuller body make this work quite well.

From the tap poured browm with a good amount of head. Smokey malty flavor with a quikc finish.

Tap @ the brewery. Poured a cloudy medium brown with a creamy beige head. Nose was slightly smokey with a touch of booze to it. Flavor was medium smokey with some roasted malts, nuts, raisins and dates. A decent brew, not really worthy of an Anniversary beer.

On tap @ Hamilton?s.Opaque copper brown with a small beige head, fading to a ring and tattered film before long.Smoky wood and toasty malts are all I smell now, but it was served a bit cold. The flavor has a good amount of smoke, light soy, a little roast, and some light caramel and light fruity yeast. The finish was semi-dry and burnt with bitterness @ a 3. Alcohol was present. Light prickly carbonation with a full body. OK--I didn?t feel that this came together very well.
