COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When we opened our doors 17 years ago, imposing India Pale Ales didnít even have a style name, but thanks to the bravaddo and ingenuity of American craft brewers, ourselves included, the "Imperial IPA" has grown into one of the most coveted and delicious styles of beer around and one we feel is perfectly suited to serve as this yearís anniversary beer. A quintet of hops--Citra, Green Bullet, Pacific Gem, Pacific Jade, and Wakatu--lend a spicy tropical spike balanced out by clean breadiness on the finish. It makes for the perfect specialty ale to toast to 17 years of brewing immensely flavorful beers. Prost!

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but was released recently. Pours moderately hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big tangerine, pineapple, grapefruit, peach, mango, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with moderate malt balance; and good strength. Taste of big tangerine, pineapple, mango, peach, grapefruit, orange zest, lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Good amount of earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, pineapple, peach, mango, grapefruit, orange/lemon zest, floral, grass, pine, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of hop flavors with moderate malt balance; with a moderately crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a lightly creamy, crisp, and moderately sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent DIPA! All around great balance and complexity of bright hop flavors and moderate malt presence; and very smooth and crisp to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

On tap at Taps in Petaluma. Pours a pale amber color with a bit of head. Mild hop flavors and some noticeable alcohol. A little musty.

22 oz bottle shared with the wife. Pours a clear golden color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have fresh citrus hops showcasing orange and tangerine, some resiny hops, light toasted malts, caramel with mild spicy notes. Very drinkable at almost 10%. This brought a small glimpse of summer on a day when we are getting 6+ inches of snow.

Bottle. Poured a clear copper color with large frothy off-white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy complex hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This is a solid beer and very good double IPA.

Bottle, shared with Rosser and Faysal. Pleasing juicy citrus hops, sweet caramel malts, quie bright for such a big brew.

22oz bottle in a tulip. Pours hazy golden/amber with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of bitter and citrusy hops, some pale and caramel malts, a little dough, and some light spiciness. Flavor the same. Average texture. A decent imperial IPA, but the hops are slightly weird and a little too heavy on the malts.

Hazy golden honey pour with a small eggshell head. Grapefruit, honey, resin, evergreen, and guava. Hint of spice as well. A solid double IPA but nothing distinguishable.

22oz bomber pours with a gold body that has a slight haze (hop haze Iím hoping) that supports a tall off white head of foam. The aroma offers up a bowl of freshly wedged citrus and a few mango pieces that has firm resiny bitter hop edge to it. Behind those hops are thin slivers of malt sweetness. The taste starts thick bold and juicy with malt sweetened grapefruit, tangelo, lime and mango. It then quickly moves into robust levels of hop bitterness and resiny hop oil notes with faint sweeet citrus gummy bears. Damn. This is a nice rich robust IIPA.
