COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
When we opened our doors 17 years ago, imposing India Pale Ales didn’t even have a style name, but thanks to the bravaddo and ingenuity of American craft brewers, ourselves included, the "Imperial IPA" has grown into one of the most coveted and delicious styles of beer around and one we feel is perfectly suited to serve as this year’s anniversary beer. A quintet of hops--Citra, Green Bullet, Pacific Gem, Pacific Jade, and Wakatu--lend a spicy tropical spike balanced out by clean breadiness on the finish. It makes for the perfect specialty ale to toast to 17 years of brewing immensely flavorful beers. Prost!

Hazy golden honey pour with a small eggshell head. Grapefruit, honey, resin, evergreen, and guava. Hint of spice as well. A solid double IPA but nothing distinguishable.

22oz bomber pours with a gold body that has a slight haze (hop haze I’m hoping) that supports a tall off white head of foam. The aroma offers up a bowl of freshly wedged citrus and a few mango pieces that has firm resiny bitter hop edge to it. Behind those hops are thin slivers of malt sweetness. The taste starts thick bold and juicy with malt sweetened grapefruit, tangelo, lime and mango. It then quickly moves into robust levels of hop bitterness and resiny hop oil notes with faint sweeet citrus gummy bears. Damn. This is a nice rich robust IIPA.

pours a clear orange with a medium size white head, and good lacing. smell is of citrus, floral, orange peel, and malt. taste is of hops, citrus, some caramel, and leaves. ends a little oily and bitter.

Thanks to Sebastian for sharing! Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small off-white head. The smell is fruity hops, caramel malt, peach. The taste starts hoppy with fruit, citrus, pine going into a caramel backbone then slight bitterness and dryness. Medium body and slick - nicely carbonated. Nice DIPA.

22oz bottle. Mostly clear golden yellow orange color. Thin white head. Decent dots of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, crisp lighter carbonation. kind of slick texture. Bigger bitter taste, on spot for a fresh DIPA... Kind of a resiny, hoppy heat in the finish, suggests at the 9.5% abv. Nice resiny, grapefruit, citrusy hop character. Some sweetness, caramel malt, but as it is now, mostly just a lot of good fresh very hoppy heat. Overall, a solid DIPA. Just a little bite in the finish is my main complaint. Enjoyable overall. Gets the job done.

Pours an unclear with a low white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is of fruity/juicy hops, quite nice! Taste is really balanced and never aggressive with a medium level of bitterness counteracting some caramel-like malts. Carbonation was moderate, body medium. A nice surprise again, thanks Tom!

Une belle bombe résineuse et sucrée mais assez facile à boire. Les malts sont croustillants et la résine de pin patauge sans problème. Légèrement huileux en bouche également mais sec, parfait en mangeant.

Deutlich hopfiger Antrunk, blumig. Angenehme Herbe, vollmundig. Intensiv bleibend, leicht grasig, weich. Die Blumigkeit wird auch im Mittelteil absolut in den Vordergrund gestellt, wenig helles Malz. 10/12/12/12/10/12

pours hazy bright golden with a small white cap, some retention and lacing. citrus, fruits - berries, honeyed, sweet and spicy malts, hint of toastiness. moderate carbonation, mediyum body - oily and a bit sticky, slightly boozy and spicy-piney-citrusy finish. clean, but relatively linear. nice.

Bottle (22 oz). Extra from kbudd19, thanks! Slightly hazy golden with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is hoppy with pine and citrus along with some sweetness. Taste is of citrus and pine along with caramel and a good malt backbone (almost too sweet at times though) and moderate bitterness. Alcohol is well integrated. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Oily and dry mouthfeel. Good DIPA. Drinkable. A tad sweet, but not that much for the style.
