(Bottle) Pours deep nut brown with a pale nougat coloured head. The flavour holds sweet cocoa, robust caramel, toffee, sticky dried fruits, nuts, meat, earth, vanilla, soft wood, medicine, brandy and honey candy. Soft and round yet a bit fiery on the nose. The flavour is near medium sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic with cocoa, chocolate, nuts, toffee, caramel, dried fruits, vanilla, brandy, earth, mud, tobacco, meat and a touch of honey. The mouthfeel is round, smooth, velvety, creamy and light fiery numbing with a light carbonation. Malty and light brandy oaky finish. Medium to full bodied.

_angst_ (3274) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - JUL 27, 2012
Bomber courtesy of Marsiblursi. Pours deep ruby reddish brown with a small creamy nougat head that slowly dissipates while leaving some lacing on the glass. Smell is slightly sweet and malty with sweet bread, alcohol, wood, butterscotch, lemon zest, dusty cocoa powder, resinous wood, dusty hay, roasted nuts and vanilla fudge. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with sweet dark bread, burning alcohol, butterscotch, wood, lemon zest, brandy, vanilla, coconut, golden syrup, caramel and hints of toffee. Mouthfeel is smooth, soft, creamy, boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is sweet and tiny bitter with sweet bread, alcohol, caramel, wood, vanilla fudge, coconut and toffee. Bit too boozy but still very nice...

Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a beige head. Aroma is of oak, brandy, vanilla, dark fruits like raisins, brandy soaked raisins, sugar notes, caramel and toffee. The flavor follows the nose with nice flavors of dark fruits, again the brandy soaked raisins, oak, vanilla, brandy, sugar, caramel, toffee and molasses. The body is on the fuller side of medium with a silky and dry mouth feel. Overall a really nice BA Barley Wine.

22 oz bottle from deftim13, thanks again. Pours a murky rusty amber with a thick, beige head. Aroma of toffee, fruity esters, buttery/butterscotch brandy, oak and bread dough. Flavor is sweetish caramel malt, dates, vanilla, warming brandy and some light oak tannin. Medium body with a soft, oily mouth feel. Wow, this is really nice, seems like a great base beer that blends perfectly with the brandy barrel aging. Excellent Barley Wine.

Bottle at a tasting at James’ place. Pours a hazed ruby brown amber with a medium beige tan head. Cocoa and chocolate, warm vanilla and wood. Medium to thick body, warm and smooth, a touch of sweetness and a bit of oxidization. Sweet and toasty, warm wood and more vanilla and sweetness. Very nice for a style I don’t like much.
