3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 drewbeerme (3305) - Chicago, USA - JUL 22, 2008
22oz bottle. bottled a couple months ago but I’m told this was stored in a fridge. pours hazy golden with creamy white head. the aroma is not as hoppy as i was expecting, peach, melon, and earthy hop notes. some spiciness seemingly coming from the yeast. flavor isn’t that bitter either with more sweet candi sugar and biscuity-cookie malts meeting the earthy-dried fruit notes and peachy and apricot hop notes. slightly spicy and dry finish. smooth body and pretty easy drinking. i’m not sure if this is much different and hoppier if it was a bit fresher or on tap (although rates donbut as it is here it seems to fall more on the belgian tripel side with some rather sweet simple candi sugar notes just kissed by PNW hop profile. a much bigger hop profile would help this out a lot as like the idea of a IIPA fermented with a belgian yeast strain, just wish this was a IIPA.

Orange amber with a tall dense head.
Hops are light and have a more earthy aroma, malts are sweetish.
Taste is hoppy and bitter with a light spice from the yeast.
Drinks well, too well considering the 9% al.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 FROTHINGSLOSH (3388) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 16, 2012
Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured an incredibly murky and soupy pale yellow-orange with a medium sized frothy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was strong lemon, orange and grapefruit. The flavor was tart and bitter with notes of orange, lemon, grapefruit, tropical fruits, pepper, chalk and yeast. The beer turned dry towards the long finish with orange, tropical fruits and chalk lingering. Thick and full body. Quite nice.

This definitely has aromas of an IPA and a Belgian ale; grassy, citrusy hops and spiciness. These all follow into the taste with lemony, citrus hop bitterness and an afterbite of Belgian yeast peppery spice. Starts off a cloudy medium orange/yellow with a medium but quickly dissipating white head, then later in the pour a lot of chunks show up, so the sediment is not very settled. Visually not great, but it doesn’t affect the flavor. Finishes with a lingering spicy bitterness. Nice combination of Belgian ale and IPA.

On draft at Sharp Edge Brasserie, servied as a IIPA. Poured hazy orange with some white lacing. Medium bodied. Citrusy, piney taste mixed with spicy, bready hops. Dig the subtle spicey character on this.

Draught. A bit darker and hazy with a white head. Citrus, sugary sweet, bright fruits, light yeast spices, and a nice bitter hop bite. Has a nice grapefruit and light spicy yeast bite on the finish. The Belgian influence is a little more mild than many BIPAs that I’ve had and I think that makes this work so well. Good stuff.

Bottle shared by brew3crew. Poured clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate complex earth hop aroma. Medium to full body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bitter hop flavor with a medium to heavy bitter finish of moderate duration. This is a very good beer.

You can definetly tell the hops have started to fade. Malty smell with a little bit of hops that still come through. Maybe simcoe. Earthy body and the hops come through in the mouth and fade in the throat. Will have to look at my review of on draft to see if it deserves better.

Just bought a bottle of this at my local liquor store hearing that it was new and great tasting. So of course i had to check for myself.
A: Poured into a tulip glass with a crazy frothy head that soon fell away into the corners of the beer that lasted the entire sesh. Bright golden in color and clear as day.
S: Wow, this IPA is insane. Citrus lemon, orange and peaches dominate the nostrils.
T: And yes wow again the flavor is just remarkable. Coming in at 9% this beer has no reminisce of a hot alcohol flav but straight up exactly how the smell would taste. Its a great balanced hop bitterness that is complemented by the orange lemony notes. Hints of tangerine on the back of the tongue make this an extremely easy drinking IPA that i would love to drink again.
M: Had a great dryness to it easily allowing you to drink more, but i felt could have used a little more depth in the mouthfeel. Ran just a tad bit too thin.
O: Wow his beer is really amazing. I wouldn’t have minded a tad bit more body as well as a little bit more bitterness but the bitterness is not something i would knock it for. Damn good tasting IPA especially for the price.

On tap at The Local during San Diego beer week. Man, this beer speaks volumes about the benefit of having your IPA served fresh. Aroma was a big citrus grapefruit hop bomb. Smelled amazing. Pour was medium prams hazy with a light head. The first sip was pure grapefruit hop goodness. Well balanced by the malt but not sticky by any stretch. Kept getting better sip after sip. Alcohol was superbly hidden. Great beer.

Coppery amber in color with a whitish head. Very floral hops up front. Not intensely bitter, but punchy. A little fruit and sourness, but not much. Quite nice and strong overall.
